Just thought of this

Say you have a card that 2 people want....1 of these people is a Player collector and 1 is a Set collector. Both have offered you the same amount of Paypal to do the deal. Lets say they both sent you a pm....and both were timestamped with the same time and you have dealt with them only once each.

For you....when making this deal...does one type of collector carry more weight than the other?

As a set collector myself...i might lean towards making the deal with the set collector because I know how hard it can be to complete a set

please chime in

Easy answer is whoever asked first:)

But being a set collector means you can finish a task. A player collector can almost never have all the cards of their hunted player, so I would go to set collector first

I'm gonna be honest here. It depends on the situtation. If it's someone I've dealt with in the past (particularly if it's a bunch of times) I'd lean towards that person. Yes, I know it's bias, but it's my card and I'll do what I want with it. If it's people I haven't dealt with before, I'd go with a first come first serve basis.

I too...would go with the first to inquire.....but for arguments sake....lets say they both sent you a pm....and both were timestamped with the same time and you have dealt with them only once each....

If it were a low numbered card, I'd go with the player collector for sure, but if it were a print run of 50 or more I'd go with whoever contacted me first.

Hypothetically, if they both contacted me at the same time, it'd probably go with who I felt was easier to deal with. If both were great guys, then probably still side with the player collector b/c that's what I am.

How big is the card? How far along is the set? How big is the player collector in relation to other collectors of the same player? Does either collector tend to sell off parts of the PC or break up sets midway through? Who would you picture regularly needing the card more? Was there a collector that you thought of first when you pulled the card?

If it's a set killer then the set collector. If it's a super player collector (like connie's cujo collection) then the player collector. If it's neither then I'd go based on that persons reputation in the hobby (being a generally nice person) whether I've experienced it first hand or not.

I'd go with Player collector. I've never really collected a set die hard, but i do know how exciting it is to see a card you need of a player you collect, especially if it's one that you haven't seen ever/for a long time. Player collector is my answer!

First come first served,in case of a tie I would side with the player collector only because I am a player collector first and foremost:beer:

I think everyone is missing the intent of the original question. EVERYTHING else being equal (including time stamp, personal relationships and past transaction history), which collector would you move the card to?

For me, it depends on the print run of the card. The lower the PR, the more likely I am to move it to the set collector as he will have trouble completing his set without it.

The one exception would be a one of one as I would rather it end up with the player collector (if he wants it) because 1/1 sets are long shots to complete anyway.

For the player collector, there will always be more cards to add to the collection. But this is from my perspective and I'm not a completionist.

I don't buy the first come first served policy. If I was indifferent, I would look at past posts to see which person's online presence I "like" better. This translates to in-person dealings to. When I sell cards at shows, I prefer to deal with friendly, non-condescending, people. I would take less money for a card from a person I like rather than more money from a douchebag. Sometimes, substantially less.
