Chicago may hit a homerun on this one. I can't believe Arizona would give up on Strome this quick. The guy has produced at every level including being over a PPG player and an all-star last year as a rookie in the AHL.

I agree. Perlini is a speedy player, and it is way too early to write off Strome. This trade was a head scratcher.
Schmaltz is on the last year of his ELC I believe, so he'd be getting a nice bump in salary this summer, which Chicago will have a hard time absorbing vs. a couple of guys that are still on their ELCs. Strome may reunite with Debrincat and Perlini can be a very useful player provided he's in a position to succeed.

Strome won't produce at the NHL level unless his skating progresses. Good size, but his quickness and top-end speed just aren't at that level.
I remember talking a few years ago to a guy who coached both Strome and Debrincat, and he had predicted that Debrincat's physical and mental game would translate much better to the NHL than those of Strome. I've seen nothing to make me think he's wrong.

Have a really hard time seeing Schmaltz being a 1C for any NHL team, even the Coyotes. He cannot win a face-off to save his life and is not physical AT ALL. He avoids contact at all costs. He is a middle-six winger. As a die-hard Hawks fan, this is an accurate report. He just has not shown anything to indicate he can be a high-end center in the NHL, period.
