I see that you have ventured onto the Dark side!

Have a lookie at my signature! I have a couple of those Pesky parallel's that you can curse me for as well!

I'm at work and unable to view the BAY! What did Shawn guilt ya into buying?

Brian

Lastly, rumours have it that the Province of NS. Has been overrun by the dreaded Jack Frost and his minions of snow!

Steve,

Care to elaborate?

Brian,

Yup...-13 right now outside my door....at least a foot of snow on the ground within the last week, and a Nor'easter on it's way Sunday.....

Rob

Parallels really aren't that tough on the wallet for the most part. Oh, I grant you when UD does something annoying like parallels #/5 it's a bit frustrating (haven't SEEN the Sakic yet). Still, the shine has been taken off of parallels in the last few years - they can be had without too much of a strain on the finances.

I guess I may as well start chasing his parallels now..... :p

If anybody wants to buy some of my cards let me know....this little quest is gonna cost me a fortune....

I guess this was as good a place to start as any....

Rob

Awesome 1/1 Rob. Hopefully those parallels won't be too hard. The hardest of them all I would imagine would be a Z-gold 5x7.

Awesome pickup. I have to disagree with the Q man on this one though. Parallels have been doing really well for me on ebay as a seller. Especially with the lockout, people seem to be spending money in new places like finishing off some parallel sets, and working on player collections. I also have been working on a Beehive Master set and some of the Silver parallels #/67 have been selling for 5X BV. I guess it all depends on the set, player, etc. Just like everything else. Anyway sorry for the rant. I am going to send you a PM. I have a Tanguay parallel for ya. ;) Mike

I'd like to see you say that with a straight face when the next Fedorov BAP Emerald surfaces and sells for $200+ :D

Parallel's can be one of those things where you get 'em either really cheap or really expensive. I've paid way over BV for some Vinny's that I needed, and others I've paid a buck or less for. It really depends on timing. Good luck with your new quest, Rob. :)

On average, they ain't that tough if you pick'em up as they come out. Sorry, but the odd set aside - Beehive for example - the average parallel can be had quite cheaply.

Gotta agree on this one. There are a ton of parallels out there, but only a handful of sets that actually sell well.

I think the Legends Parallels have been doing pretty well also. Anybody been following how the UD exclusives have been selling? I haven't paid attention since thre are none in the US hobby boxes I have been opening. Which is another subject. UD  . Mike

Thanks for the encouragement guys....I hemmed and hawed on it for quite a while....but I always said even if I didn't chase his parallels, that I wanted a true 1/1 for my collection.....considering he only has 6 or 7 true 1/1's, I figure I did pretty well....the only other one I have ever seen was his Vanguard which sold to someone in the Czech Republic for a stoopid amount of money.....I'm just glad "Ole_Johan" didn't bid on it...the guy is becoming the bane of my existance...he bids on every Tanguay I'm looking at it seems.....I know other Avs collectors on here must have run into him before...he seems to chase anything that has to do with the Avalanche....

Good way to look at it as well, even if you don't want to go after other parallel's, 1/1's are super sweet, and especially one from a set as tough to come by as Topps Gold Label.

I have had a few run ins with Ole Johan, but luckily he doesn't seem to go nuts and overbid on most things.
