dealer shortage at Expo?

I would definitely say there were far less dealers set up than in past years. The hall used to be filled practically to the back wall when I first started attending 10 years ago. It's been a slow creep forward from that back area where the autographed guests do their signings.

There wasn't any significant floor shrinkage this year that I noticed, Greg. It's been static the last year or so.

I wasn't able to attend last fall - but like you said, it seemed to be the same as when I came up for spring this year anyway. From a memory standpoint - I can recall 10-15 dealers who always used to set up in the same spots who haven't been there the past 4-5 years now! But what I really miss is the ice cream guy in the far corner (where they set up ITG land now) and the Canada Post booth and their awesome promotions. :(

That's ok though - the show was fine this year. No lack of fun to be had!

There were a few notable booths I noticed missing this time around. I didn't make it to the Spring Expo, but I was there last Fall -- so I'm not sure how long these guys have been gone:
1) The Cards in a Cage. The lack of a chain link fence at the Expo really stuck out in my mind.
2) Last Fall there was a guy on far right row from entrance that had TONs of product. I'm pretty sure it was not Grizzly, but someone with similar quantity/variety for more recent products. They had tiered levels of boxes with decent prices. I didn't see them this time.
3) The Wrestler signers in their own booth. I recall Virgil being there recently.
4) On a somewhat related note, the Benchwarmer booth was a nice treat too. I haven't seen them since before SARSpo :giggity:

1) cards in a cage I believe was wax on wheels, don't think they were their in the spring either
3) virgil was there again this time, with the million dollar belt

hope that helps

That is Wax on Wheels. They are not allowed to sell wax that is less than 90 days old as they are not an approved seller. There was no point in them setting up. I miss them and PGH wholesale.. PGH was dirt cheap and carried Nascar racing cards which I loved to bust at the expo.

It was my first time at an expo and it didn't seem like they were short dealers but I have nothing to compare it to. I was there for 11 hours over the weekend and only made it through about 60% of the tables, so there was more than enough for me to browse through. ; )

After speaking with Al on Sunday afternoon. He mentioned that he had to add an additional 12 tables for new dealers. That is already a bump up from last year. So def no dealer shortage.

I think the most important question to ask here is:

Did anybody approach and ask Virgil what he did to the Iron Sheik to be constantly called some of the worst insults this side of being labeled a Maple Leafs fan?

NOT part of the Diamond Club Dealers so restricted to what they could / would be able to sell BUT great for SUPPLIES!

Probably referring to PGH Sports Wholesales which was Pittsburgh Sports Wholesale and I have NOT seen them at the last 2 Expos.
