Long story short, a dealer from Ajax bought this Galcnehyuk /99 from me on Ebay days prior to the Expo. He told me he was going there and wanted the card rushed to him and that's what I did. Now the Expo has come and gone and suddenly there are issues with the card that weren't noticed in the scans and upon arrival and after positive feedback was left, coincidentally on Day 12 and obviously after not being able to sell it in Toronto. (edit:the issues were the top indentation - I hadn't even noticed this when I listed it, some line mark near the "A" and the foil - no clue which "A", and that the edges were rough). To make matters even more laughable, he said he didn't even notice them until today. If you happened to see this card and somehow remember the asking price, I'd be more than interested.

I was already leaning to not breaking much wax anymore and this pretty much seals the deal. If you want the name/ID of this clown, PM me. I tried to scan the dealer list to ID his table at the Expo, but no such luck.

Thats digusting taking ebay sellers for Walmart.

Unfortunately Ebay allows that to happen with their, Screw the Seller...I mean "Buyer" protection.

Bill you should add a restocking fee to all your auctions. This might persuade buyers to think twice before purchasing an item with the intentions of returning it if they can't flip it for a profit.

Very good point. If I attempt to relist this card, I'll definitely be doing that.

Hi,

I was watching the card on eBay and it was just ended. The asking price was $2,499 (BIN/OBO). Is this the info you were looking for?

If you get it back, I would be interested in buying it.

Thanks,
Anish

I pulled a nice patch card last year which had
a pretty good sized dent in it.Thing was,I dropped
it on the floor when I took it out of the pack.Sorry
you have to deal with this meatstick.People never
cease to amaze me.Probably dropped this one
himself.

There was another thread about him a while back. A few members on here have dealt with him many times in the past and vouched for him.

I read the same thread and that's all well and dandy, but I refuse to believe that two clowns bought a card for $2k and didn't notice a litany of issues with it until 13 days after receipt and post Expo when countless eyes would have been on the card. It defies logic.

I agree with this. Seems more like buyer remorse after he couldn't flip it at expo.

I agree, and to me it seems that he noticed damage to the Skinner right away but took as long as it did for him to notice the damage to the Gally. Could be many reasons I suppose, it just seems odd.

Once the new bidder received the card and left feedback the transaction is over. You have completed your duties and it has moved on. Ebay has no grounds to rescind the sale and refund the money. And especially 13 days after. Since they can not prove that the item was received in that condition, plus the new seller lists the item as like new, they have no grounds.

You would think that, but this is Ebay mind you. They will side with the buyer 99.9% of the time. What will most likely happen here is that if Bill doesn't accept the refund of the card the buyer will open up a case against him and there is a chance that the buyer could say the item is damaged and get his money back without having to send the card back to Bill.

Do a google search and you will see this happens a lot.

I believe in the past, if you claimed something was damaged, Paypal asked you to send the card to them so they could verify. I am not 100% sure about this as I never had a damage claim dispute with an honest buyer. Most of the time when a customer of mine has said an item was damaged it was as soon as they have received it and they provided proof that the item was damaged right away...not 13 days or so after the fact.

I have had two "damage" claims where there was a clear case of buyers remorse. I had a customer open up a damage claim on a Sawchuck replica mask, but he kept on changing his story to try to get me to refund his money.

The other was a scam that a buyer was pulling across 6 different IDs where he bought something, paid for it and then once he received it said that was damaged and requested a 30% refund to keep the cards. While he was doing this he ran into an EX FBI agent who shut down his scam real quick.

The more I think about it, it seems like Ebay protects the crooks more than the honest people. Regardless of which side of the transaction they are on. Like the guy who sold the reprint Gretzky earlier this week. Just because he put "Reprint" in the small print he will be protected from a paypal charge back.

Good luck to you Bill.

What? This is completely false. Received feedback does not "complete" a sale nor does it remove any future obligations to the seller according to eBay or Paypal.

The seller can say the item was damaged/fake/counterfeit/incorrect up to 30days after the date of receipt. Paypal will require proof if you don't offer returns (up to 14 days) in the form of a letter or phonecall from a 3rd party expert. Once the item is returned to the seller (with proof of delivery). eBay/Paypal will refund the buyer.

Feedback is just a tool to rate buyer/seller performance

If the item is received and feedback is posted COMMON SENSE would suggest you would look at the item in question before posting! This isn't a part that requires installation to be used. This is a hockey card. What you see is what you get. Since buyer is claiming damage and not counterfeit it should have been spotted instantly. Onus has to switch to the buyer at some point , regardless of what ebay or paypal rules are.

Those are the rules unfortunately, same with any purchase in real life at any online store or physical store when dealing with returns.

Not saying it's morally acceptable, but in real life, feedback received has no barring on the transaction at all and I'd hope the OP doesn't get the idea that just because feedback was left, he or the buyer dissolve all responsibilities... even if the buyer is lying. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done. What I outlined in my previous comment is what will likely happen if the seller refuses a refund because the buyer is likely going to file an "item not described" case.
