I recently won a 97-98 SOTT Martin Brodeur auto for $25. Quit a good deal as Brodeur autos are selling fairly high these days. The seller has excellent feedback. The card doesn't show up for a month (we are both in Canada), He almost immediatley wants to send my money back and call it lost. I offer to wait a couple more weeks and it doesn't show so I get my money back. Now is the just a case of a excellent ebayer refunding my money or a seller who maybe thought he should have got a lot more for his card and decided not to send it and refund the money. I only wonder as this is not the first time this has happened on a very good deal on ebay.

opinions welcome

It has happened to me too. I was wondering the exact same thing on the auctions. I really would hope that people have better morals then to do that though.

I would assume you got the short end.

Never assume people have morals.

I know it's a negative way of thinking and the pessimistic outlook on things, which I'm imfamous for.
But
it's my experience that when money's involved, and one person feels they're being slighted, or got snookered. THey're libel to do something greedy/mischievous/disingenuous.

Definitely sounds a bit shady. Most sellers put up a fight when it comes time for refunding, especially if there was no insurance purchased. I could be wrong...he may be the most caring seller on Ebay...but he'd go broke fast by just "giving in" to people who say something got lost. So...what's his name...lol. Just kidding!!

Infamous isn't the word Phil - legendary on a global scale is more like it! :)

I hate to say it, but sounds like you're getting the short end. LEave the guy positive feedback but state in it that he refunded your money after the card failed to show up. It at least lets others know if the same thing happens to them.

this has happened to me a couple times, non hockey releated of course, but the nerve of some people when it is a serial numbered card.
My example is I bought, and I know this isnt hockey related but fits the subject, a John Wooden Coaches Corner /100----The title was Fleer John Wooden auto and included a serial number in the body of description along with stating it was the Coaches corner. No scan so I asked for info and he decribed the Coaches corner card--they are two totally different cards. It sold for a 1/3 what a "regular" version sells for.
I received the reg version, I emailed him and he stated he never had the Coaches corner version, I kept the card, because it really was a nice card probably paid 5-10 more but it would have been more of a pain to return.

Sadly a month later he listed the same Coaches Corner, this time with a scan and because he left me feedback I had record of the serial number and confronted him and he said he just picked this up at a show. He lied twice to me just for the extra cash
