My local LCS is closing its doors after 7 years of doing business due to a 300% rent hike by their landlord. And unlike most other shops, these guys had their **** together. Very knowledgable and passionate about the biz and offered great discount incentives to their repeats. I'm so disheartened that I've basically stopped buying any more new books; and looking to sell off most of my boxes.

Anyone know anybody in Vancouver that's into bulk buys? Got all kinds of nice stuff ranging from DC, Marvel, Image and a bunch of Independants from the 80s, 90s and current stuff. I've tried eBay to no avail; Canada Post is a joke. It can't come anywhere close with UPS' shipping costs. Might give Craiglist a shot.

At least one collection lot will be able to feed my growing interest in hockey wax for the time being.

I don't know if ANYONE'S into bulk buys any longer. You might try that place on West 4th in Vancouver, but that's the limit of my knowledge of the coast comic scene.

I agree with Q on this. Sadly, I'd be hard pressed to believe that ANYONE is interested in bulk buys, including The Comic Shop on W4th, Golden Age certainly isn't, my LCS (Taz Comics) isn't, ABC Book and Comic Emporium **MIGHT** be, but only on the cheap.

The best thing you can do is just get a list together of what you have

Astonishing X-Men 1-12
....
Young Avengers 1-12, 14-20

and just drop it off or email them, and see if there is any response or interest even in certain runs.

Kevin

PS - I'll ask my LCS guy if he knows anyone who's buying, but comics? in this economy? in this city?.... sad to say, I don't think there is much chance of anything more than $30-35 per longbox which is what I managed to sell 20 long boxes for 10 years ago or so.

There's a guy in Winterpeg who buys like that.

Part of the problem really is that the supply way outstrips demand.

Yeah, I already talked to Pat @Golden Age, and these days he rarely does any buybacks. And IF he does, he'll pay at best 20% of cover price (but usually 10%). I used to sell off bundles of books to him on a regular basis; but that was years ago.

Yeah times have really changed.

kmitchel - Keith @Taz still runs one of the better shops imho. Before getting into hockey wax, I used to spend an obscene amount of $$$ back in the mid-late 90s when i used to work in the area.
