Do you open the chronolgy time capsules?

Tried an online break (ebay) last night and bought Luongo spot.

Ended up getting 2 time capsules and a base. Not bad for 20 bucks seeing as the unopened time capsules seem to be selling for decent money.

So what do I do? Do I rip them open? Is it worth it? It's not like I'm going to move the cards anyway, so what is everyones opinion?

I would sell them. They sell fairly well and 80% of the time, the card you get inside will sell for much less.

Agreed. I’ve yet to see someone who opened one get something more valuable than the sealed capsule.

I rip because I always want to know. Each time I have gotten a plain mini card in there, which was a let down for sure.

I watched a youtube video from I think Titan Cards and the girl doing the opening hit a time capsule and she opened it and surprise! A Carey Price autographed mini was in there but those are few and very far between!

Well I'm not going to sell the cards as I collect luongo, and to be honest, having the card opened still checks it off the list for me. How could you ever leave a card inside? I just hate the concept cause no one has that will power!!!

I'd open it since you stand to loose far less then if you were to open the pack.

Open one and leave one sealed! Then you’ll have one of each. Just make sure you open the one with a Hjalmarsson blank back /3 inside! LOL

Since you're not going to move it, I'd rip them open and see if you can sell the contents for more Luongo's!

That changes everything! If the plan is to keep them then crack them open. The resale/trade value of the mini card inside is irrelevant as it will all be a plus.

Let us know how you make out. If there is still 1/1 art cards I hope you hit one of those.

I had a Jack Hughes Time Capsules ... and pulled a Logan Couture mini card 04/60.

Probably one of my only disappointments with Vol. 1 was pulling a gold capsule of Bathgate and it had a normal /60 mini in it.

Amongst all my Vol. 1 capsules, I pulled normal minis of Otto, Brett Hull (Blues), Mullen, Laraque, MacInnis, Mellanby, Pavel Bure (Canucks), Larmer, and Nabakov. Pulled an auto of Kent Nilsson out of /30 and blank backs of Sawchuk (!!!) and Olczyk out of /3.

Vol. 2 capsules had normals of Tarasenko and Parise and a rookie of Shesterkin (rooks are /90).

Probably a better bet to keep them intact but I can never resist. I do my best to carefully open them as well; some people absolutely mangle them.

I knew the person who pulled the Vol 1 Orr 1/1 capsule. He ended up selling it. Never knew if the person who bought it ripped it. I believe he sold it for slightly more than $150 US (was over a year ago...can’t quite remember).

I have never pulled a Letterman or Capsule out of the 3 packs of the Vol 1, so my opinion on to rip or not is moot. Haven’t bought any Vol 2 yet so, not sure if I do get a capsule, will I rip.
