It puzzles me that people make such a big deal on whether or not autographs are signed on the card or a sticker. So i pose the question to you fellow H.I.er's. Does it really make that much of a difference to you?

rationalize your opinions please :)

Seems more personal if the player actually signs the card, I guess he also handled it then?
The sticker auto's seem off and the person that places them on the card can do it fast and make it uneven or upside down. I don't think you would see Ray Bourque sign his card with PK's auto in person ;)

I would rather have a hard signed card over a sticker everyday of the week :)

Just my 2 cents!

If I love the set I don't care but player cards for the pc have to be hard signed, just what I perfer. No cut off autos or cramped in autos.

I personally like hard signed because when the signature runs off the "window" or area, it adds character. But when the signature runs off a sticker it just looks funny. I still chase some nicely designed sticker autos, but only ones where the auto doesn't run off the sticker. Some players are notorious for that, first one that comes to mind is Paul Kariya.

I prefer hard signed, however if a set has the stickers done well (see many of ITG's products), then stickers look great. But stickers done a la New Wave in Titanium look horrendous.

yes it does matter to me VERY much, i will buy all Cloutier's reguardless (beggers cant be choosers) but with every other PC i have, if its a sticker auto, i dont want it.

In my opinion, the card isnt even signed... its like me waiting at a Canucks game for Hank Sedins auto and i get him to sign a chunk of saran wrap and i wrap it around a card, does it mean the card is signed? no it means i have a see thru chunk of plastic ive put on the card to make it LOOK like the card is signed.

they just look horrible in my opinion, do i blame card companies for using them? No i dont, i fully understand it makes sense to do it that way, but doesnt mean i will be adding it to my PC i just hate them so much... haha

When it comes to Turco cards, I'll buy anything.

However with any other cards it depends how well the sticker is placed, and how noticeable it is. For the most part Panini's use of sticker autos is horrendous whereas UD for the most part does a good job in their use of stickers.

I hate stickers! To me, I collect cards. A stickered auto is not an autographed card, it is an autoed sticker that gets placed on the card. The player doesn't even know what the card looks like. I prefer my cards seen, touched and autoed by the player.

I despise stickers. If it's for a player collection card then I have no choice. But if it isn't PC, it's being sold. I have no interest in insert sets, etc. which are full of stickers.

How long do stickers stay stuck too? Do they peel at some point? I have similar thoughts regarding autos on material. At what point do they really bleed and then just become a smudge.

I got a 8 player SOTT of the Bruins from a group break a few years ago. I was pretty exvited at the time it was pulled, but once I got it in hand I wasn't very impressed. The stickers just made it horrible in my opinion.

For my pc, it's irrelevant if the auto is sticker or hard-signed. But I find a hard-signed set to be much more impressive and generates more of a 'wow factor' for me.

I agree that when the sticker is incorporated into the card design it makes the lack of hard-signed much more tolerable. But the New Wave inserts in Titanium look horrible. Not how a sticker auto should be.

It doesn't really matter to me. It is nice if the card is hard signed; however, the design of a given card is more important to me. And I don't find too often that the sticker detracts from the design of a card so sticker autos don't bother me.

Itg for me has seemed to really use their stickers well. To me though an autograph is an autograph. the only thing i hate seeing is when the wrong autographed sticker is placed on a card of a different player, or when the sticker is upside down!

I don't mind sticker autos, as long as they are put on straight, right side up, and the autograph must not at all be cut off in any way. IMO those should be scrapped by the company, but they never will. Maybe they should start docking the athletes for autos not in the damn box? Such a pet peeve of mine. I have no use for half an autograph.

For my ''chase everything PC's", It doesn't matter. But hard signed always get more time in my hands when I admire my cards.

If a card is for my one of my side collections, it'll only be allowed if te card has an awesome design or of it has an exceptionally nice scrawl on it.

Overall, to me it isn't that important, but I definitely prefer a Private Signings to a Score auto!

I couldn't care less if it's sticker or hard-signed. I collect the players in question, and their signatures, not how the signature got on the card. Whether they sign the card directly or a sticker that goes upon that card, which ever ends up in my hands at the end of the day was signed by the player, one way or the other, so both are OK by me.
