My opinion, this is flat out ridiculous. My items are clearly listed that I only ship to the US, no international shipping. But EBAY allows international buyers with a US address to buy your item, then they charge you a fee because they are an international buyer. That is total BS in my book and not sure how it is allowed (legally). They should at least warn you that the buyer is not in the US and an additional fee will be charged if you sell to them.

Stopped selling on ebay years ago. They are a joke now. Your example is further proof I made the right decision :)

Yeah, that seems wrong. You have limited your selling to US only, it is not your fault that the buyer has an alternative address in a different country. Brutal.

I don't understand why ebay would deter sellers to sell internationally?! This is the stupidest policies I have heard about.

I haven't sold anything on ebay since the move away from paypal (as a seller), so have no idea about these type of "policies." Is this new?

I find all of this quite amusing, and somewhat repetitive of many previous postings. eBay is a platform to sell things, and yes they have a fee structure that has increased over the years. They don't hide it - it is right there on their sight for everyone to read.

Sellers that use eBay should be very aware of their fee structure - so if you want eBay prices, be prepared to pay eBay fees.

This is not about their fee structure, it is about EBAY allowing something that the seller did not agree to, and then charging them extra for it.

I agree with you, that's awful. Why they would add a charge for that, I don't understand. What is the charge for? If someone in Germany buys a card, and has it shipped to the USA - what extra costs did eBay have for facilitating that deal? (If it was shipped to Germany, then extra postage would be required.... but I also don't see why that's more expensive for eBay).

This is sort of the opposite problem I have, and have had for years with eBay. USA seller lists a card, and it's shipped to USA only. I have both Canadian and USA mailing addresses on file - but unless my USA address is set as primary, I won't see the card in my search results.

I'm guessing it's being shipped using eBay International Shipping service which is actually quite beneficial to the seller as all the seller does is ship the item to a domestic address, and then ebay handles everything on their end to send it to, in this case, Germany. Also, all the seller needs to worry about is that it arrives to the eBay shipping center domestically and is absolved of any liabilities or returns or lost mail etc.since eBay is taking over that responsibility.

The card went to the buyers friend in Colorado. So somehow the buyer has circumvented the system to use a domestic address, but because the buyers registered EBAY address is in Germany, EBAY charged me the international fees that I explicitly declined when I list items. I think EBAY knows there is a black hole here because I filed a complaint and got a phone call from someone at EBAY asking me for more info. When I provided it they said “oh, wow, yeah this isn’t good. I’m refunding all of your sellers fees for this item and escalating it to our compliance department.” I have a feeling this is not an isolated issue and EBAY has been collecting fees for awhile that go un-noticed by people who aren’t looking at their selling fees closely.
