I know this was discussed before and I know all the "that's why I don't sell there" comments that have been made regarding it.

At this point when I am moving most of my Tretiak collection, I need to be advertising it internationally and that is the best way unfortunately.

My question is, has anyone tried to contest this with a phone call to them or has anyone successfully managed to have the fees reversed. It pisses me off that I do my best to be fair with the shipping costs, whether it is regular, express or registered with tracking or however the customer wants/needs, and I end up losing money on it.

So if anyone has any experience on how to try to fight it, if it is even possible, I am interested to hear it.

I popped my ankle over the weekend playing hockey and I am sitting here in a cast....thus I have plenty of time to waste with these idiots on the phone. I just need as much ammo as I can before I go into this battle.

Thanks

i have had numerous calls with them. All ended up with me either in a fit of laughter or a fit of rage. For me there isnt any other option, so I just have learned to deal with it.

That is what I think is going to happen with me as well. All the phone calls end up being the same script that they are reading the answers off of. I just don't know how they can get away with it since it is not a service they are providing.

How many different buyers do you have? I tend to wheel and deal with buyers to do sales outside eBay when it comes to fixed listings and give them a bit better pricing. With multiple items I try to do one or two lower end sales via eBay (in order to have something binding, so they can neg my *** if they think I would attempt to rip them off).

What about sending an invoice via eBay with regular shipping, then send them a separate invoice for the additional services outside eBay?

ebay isn't going to change their policy on this. they put the policy in place to prevent people from selling stuff for $1 and charging $29 shipping on the item to avoid the fees.

I will try to answer your question as best as I can.
I have been selling on ebay for over 10 years. I have many repeat buyers and many different buyers as well. Its a mixed bag.

Lately I had been posting my eBay store under the auction category of HI. If a member reaches out to me about a particular card, I will deal with them on HI and follow HI policies.

In the end, the fees are they way they are, I don't bother trying to circumvent them anymore.

I very rarely deal with anyone outside of the two cases above.

For me it's about building relationships with other collectors and I always try to strike the best deal for both parties.

Does that make sense?

In the end the fees are they way they are and I don't bother trying to get around them.

Ya, I know why they did it, but they effed over everyone that is honest, yet again. It just seems to be the way it goes. It's obvious it is good to buy there, but not to sell, from a fee standpoint anyway.

That's an idea for sure. Especially when I am sending 10 cards at a time. Why send them a shipping charge via Ebay when I can send a money request via Paypal for the extra cost to ship it via Registered/Tracking or parcel. I will give that a try with my next multiple item sale to one buyer.

Good idea, Vic. Thanks
