Ok, finally a Carey Price The Cup rc has shown up on the bay. Here's the question that has most likely been posed many times.

The seller- crosbyfan6787

The card-07-08 The Cup Carey Price Auto Patch Rookie 29/99

I asked this guy 3 questions, to which he hasn't replied.

Day 1 question- Hi, could you give more time for mailing payment?

Day 2 question- Hi, are you a member of any hobby sites, I am concerned over your auctions, and member status?

Day 3- Hi, where is DDO,QC? Your lack of communication is troubling, do you speak english, thanks?

Not one reply throughout the week. That alone will make me not bid on this card. However, he has 14 auctions, all high end, and many people are bidding.

If I win this card, and pay though paypal with my visa, will that be enough protection when this seller screws me?

Does anyone know who this guy may be?

and lastly would you bid on it? My answer to that is no.

Tanks (r heavy)

Funny that he says 0 feedback must contact him before bidding. Where does he get off? He's at 0, duh!
I realize everyone needs to start somewhere...blah blah blah...
No communication means I ain't bidding, good luck if you decide too.

I love to gamble Rob:dance:

eBay assures me that if this guy disapeers off th eface of the earth that paypal has protection against it, and that I would get my money back. I'm going to talk to paypal next, and get more info on file.

But I know one thing. I still have that, don't be an idiot feeling. And that should be enough to convince me to not bid. But today is Idiot day in the Oliver rec room, and the idiot birds are flying all over the place.

FYI Rob, I bet I get Tanguay before you do:D

Thanks for your help fellow hobbyists!

What eBay is failing to mention to you is that you don't get diddly squat if the guy empties his paypal account 10 minutes after you send it to him. You will ONLY get your money back if there is money there to take. Otherwise Paypal will side with you but tell you that you are SOL, because they are certainly not going to cover his transgressions out of THEIR pocket.

You should have additional protection thru Visa, but are you really willing to risk it?

And that this auction is only covered up to $200 in buyer protection, IF you qualify.

Thanks, I passed. I will also be watching for his feedback. 3 friggin emails and not one reply. Those other bidders have a lot of faith in him.

I wouldn't send 10$ to anyone with 0 feedback. I am especially worried of people with 0 feedback selling high - end products, as I know when I was new to the bay and started selling it wasn't high end right from the get go, as I was too concerned about it working out okay.

Pretty trustworthy for your first ebay transaction to be a high-end price rc.

Or maybe it's not his/her first transaction; then I would be concerned with why they had to open a new account.

Either way, props for playing it safe.

I wouldn't bid on his stuff simply because it was all high-end and he had zero feedback. Yes, you have to start somewhere, but if someone really wants to sell potentially thousands of dollars of cards in one fell swoop, you have to build up your feedback to make people trust that you are ok.

Of course, it's all moot since his guy is obviously a waste of skin.

But Shane, yes, if you were to pay via Visa or whatever, the credit cards are very willing to work with you. I've yet to hear of a case where Visa said "sorry, can't help".
