Hey all,

Just a quick question to check how all your selling is going during this crazy time...

I've wanted to sell off a bunch of stuff as my jobs have been canceled until Sept. (Entertainment industry is getting majorly boned) but I'm slightly worried about delivery times/complaints/items not arriving.

I'm in Ontario, as I know a few of you are as well.

Should I only sell to Canada? Will items get delivered in a timely fashion? Should I put a disclaimer on listings for delivery times?

Any and all input/help is greatly appreciated! Stay safe and see you all on the other side!

Delivery times are super inconsistant right now.

However, there has been a lot of activity online though due to people staying home, so depending on what you're planning to sell, the prices may surprise you and sell higher than normal, which is good.

I think eBay has done a good job with the estimated shipping dates, as I've noticed them being stretched out a bit more due to the times we're facing, so I think the majority of buyers should expect to wait awhile and be understandable if their item isn't delivered exactly on time.

I had a card on eBay never show up, but also had a card from Canada arrive to the US in about 10 days. So it's a total mess if you aren't tracking it.

Most of the Facebook groups that I am a part of has a lot of people complaining about impatient eBay buyers, which is compounded by either eBay or PayPal not having staff on hand to handle phone calls and deal with complaints due to COVID-19. Some people have even hinted that PayPal is automatically siding with buyers despite proof to the contrary, because the system is automated to do so. I am not sure if that is true or not.

There is no question that some items are selling for much higher than they did prior to the pandemic.

If you ship with tracking, it should save you a lot of grief, even if the delivery guarantees have been suspended, as most people seem to be cool as long as they can follow their shipments. Shipping without tracking can open yourself up to a lot of chargebacks, warranted or not, simply because as stated above, the delivery times have been wildly inconsistent. There are also scammers taking advantage of all of this, but thankfully, they seem to be few and far between. I would definitely recommend trying to keep your sales on one side of the border. I have a sale pending to a buyer in Slovakia, which we have both agreed to put on hold until things start to return to normal.

Within Canada has been very good for sending and receiving packages.
From the US for the most part I have been waiting around 2-3 weeks to receive my orders successfully.
However I have 2 separate card purchases from the US in mid March that I have yet to receive.
Frustrating

Total mess even if you are. I’ve had a package in California that hasn’t moved since the 29th.

I’ve also had many arrive in what I would call normal speeds.

Patience and communication with seller are what matters, TODAY!
Gratitude for those providing this essential service, IS the #1 consideration.

I've had similar experiences as well. Once it's sent out there's no telling when things will arrive right now. Tracking is unreliable right now and shipping time guarantees are out the window.
