eBay's Authenticity Guarantee; as a seller, I can't opt out?!?!?

I just listed a Panini Anthology 1/1 triple auto, and got an email that it is backed by their Authenticity Guarantee, and if it sells it will be shipped there first!!! No thanks! Scans of the front and back of the card clearly show what it is; I can't find a way to opt out of this process. Is this the case?

If you list it for $250 or more it has to go through the process. I’ve had to a few times and it’s not been an issue. I pay to ship it to them and they pay to ship the rest of the way.

It's actually more protection for you as a seller. If something happens once they authenticate it and ship it on to the buyer, they eat the return. If I were selling on eBay, I'd want this bullet in my chamber.

I recently sold a card on eBay and it also listed it as Authenticity Guaranteed. I had never had this before as I only occasionally sell. As far as I could tell, it went straight to the international distribution center ( US to Canada) and then right to the buyer. I was never sent any other address for the authentication and received positive feedback. Not really sure what happened but all was good.

Agreed, but I wonder how many buyers are turned off of the thought there is 2x as much shipping, waiting, and potential for loss/damage than there was prior. Oh well, What's done is done.

I avoid the problem by not selling cards that are worth money, lol

it does on sales from Canada to the US which are technically international sales.

It is still a free promotional offer for now ( for Canada at least ) but I think once they start charging for it you have the option to opt out of it.

I've been a buyer of some cards that had to go through the Authenticity Guarantee program and I've had varying experiences with it. Sometimes, it gets delivered without a hitch with minimal delays, other times the delivery times are ridiculously long (due to it having to get sent to the Authenticator, processed, and then resent out again), I've had one that was lost after it got to the Authenticator, and one time I was refunded and the card returned to the seller because it failed Authentication due to it being a cut auto card.

Maybe it's different for USA to Canada, which was my experience
