I was loading some cards on ebay and noticed they are going to require sellers to put the Condition of the card in the listing (drop down menu). I can see this being a problem for sellers. Sellers and buyers idea of "very good" being diff. What do you guys think?

If they make it mandatory, they should have a little help button to explain the grades. Then if the grade explanation is on Ebay, its official. It could still have problems that way too.

A good picture grade help would be good, like the old Tuff Stuff or Becketts did, where they showed 6 grades and 6 of the same card to show the different grades.

Considering that that's one of the most asked questions by me I'd be happy with that section filled out.

But like you said, mint to you maybe crap to me

Another opportunity for unscrupulous buyers to file a paypal claim. And another reason not to sell on Ebay.

Agreed, but until the legendary competition for eBay makes it's appearance, eBay is the way to go.

Asking sellers to grade a card is idiotic. This is just going to set up more problems for people moving forward, which seems to be eBay's new motto.

I would put in the description, I am not a professional grader please look at front and back of scan before bidding, grade is my opinion only, please bid accordingly

Use YOUR best judgement if a picture is provided...If you don't like what you see;plain and simple DON"T BID.

good idea... except for the fact that 90% of ebay sellers apparently have no idea how to operate a scanner or a camera properly.
how many teeny tiny pics or blurry or the infamous cell phone pic that looks like it's from 15 feet away....

HAHAHAH! I resemble that cell phone remark!!

It would make sense if the intent was to get away from grading terms. On numerous occasions I've asked for a description of condition and been fed the line it's nm or better, look at the scan (how many scratches ever show up in a scan, seriously??) Is it really so hard to say that a card is scratch free, has 3 sharp corners, etc??

I listed a card and selected "brand new" as the highest rating but if you look up the description, it says brand new is considered as still in the wrapper/packaging and never removed.
