Hello. Looking for some opinions on this Ed Belfour mask.

It's from his early Chicago career and it's signed on the back.

The seller who I got it from wrote it was worn by Belfour and autographed after game.

I think it's a spectacular collector's item regardless. But I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion as to whether or not the mask was actually worn by Belfour. Or maybe just point me in a direction where I can ask around more. I can't ask the seller about it as I needed to use a middleman company to make the purchase.

It's weight are around 1,2 kilogram or around 2,65 lb and the brand are Warwick which I know was a brand Belfour used.

The mask certainly looks like it has been used in game or practice.

I attach 18 pics of the mask from different angles.

First of all, that does look really awesome!

I would highly recommend throwing the pics out in the "Game Used Goalie Masks" group on Facebook for the most accurate opinions as it has a higher than average concentration of people knowledgeable on NHL worn goalie masks.

The easiest way to potentially authenticate it would be to try and photomatch it to the wear and tear visible on it. However, the challenge is that this appears to be a circa 1991/1992 ish era mask design of his and photos from the era are not the most frequent and rarely encompass an entire season.

The main thing to be wary of if you do share the mask on any group asking for advice are parasites who will try and buy it from you for pennies if it is authentic. If it is in fact a game worn Belfour mask from his earlier Blackhawks era, it would be worth in today's market, easily $10 000+ USD and I wouldn't be surprised if it could reach $15 000-$20 000 USD or more.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I was hoping you might chip in an opinion as I know you're dealing with a lot of game worn equipment.

I tried to do a quick photo match before I made the post but it's really hard to find any good close up pics or clips on Belfours mask from this time.

But I will definitively look into that facebook group and share the pics with them. Thanks a lot for the tips.

If you are looking to sell it and you can definitely photomatch it, your best bet is to auction it off through Classic Auctions. They're the best in the business and have sold a ton of Belfour's own personal collection over the past few years.

Thanks for the tips! Haven't decided what to do with it yet. Was just intended for my little Mask collection but if it hold some value I might consider selling it later.

Very nice!!!
