I've always enjoyed soccer, but I'd like to start a player collection (or two) after watching the World Cup. The player I'm thinking about collecting is David Villa, and perhaps Luis Suarez.

So, what can anyone tell me about collecting??

1. What's out there? Looks like Panini, with maybe some Upper Deck, Topps, etc...

2. What kinds of prices do cards command?

3. Are there websites where I can find player checklists?

4. Are there good websites for trading/buying soccer cards (other than here, of course)?

Anybody here have any Villa cards available? :)

Great to see another collector wanting to collect soccer cards :)

The big companies are Panini, Topps and Futera.

Panini traditionally release sticker/card collections for big tournaments like the World Cup, Euros and Copa America.
They also have lots of products from the spanish, italian and french league.

Topps release yearly TCG and sticker collections for the english and german leagues. This year they also had a World Cup set.

Futera are what you can call 'The Cup' of soccer. Their releases, usually only one per year, include autos and jersey cards.

Also, spanish company Mundicromo have lots of cards from the spanish league.

Players like Villa and Suarez you should be able to get quite cheap.

3. Are there websites where I can find player checklists?
As far as I know, there's no sites with player checklists.
For set checklists I recommend this website.

Don't know if I can link to other forums here but send me a PM and I'll give you some links.
