I think Mike's loyalties lay with King of the Cage Rob...not EliteXC. He'll be fine
Thank you guys, my loyalty does in fact lay with KOTC. Here is our official press release regarding the ProElite situation...
King of the Cage, Inc. (“KOTC”) is fully aware of the reports surrounding the financial difficulties of ProElite, Inc. (“PE”) and the reports that PE has filed or may soon file a bankruptcy case. KOTC is currently reviewing and investigating the situation and has determined that no bankruptcy case has yet been filed by PE. Although KOTC is a wholly owned subsidiary of PE, it has maintained its own independent operational structure since its acquisition by PE. While there may be some short term impact on KOTC’s operations, KOTC intends to fulfill all of its existing obligations and to conduct all of its scheduled events. KOTC further intends to resume normal business operations as quickly as possible and to continue to grow its brand as it has for the past 10 years.
Now, what this means is that basically, KOTC is safe and sound, we will continue to run our shows, and all of our employees are safe and will remain employed.
As far as what will happen to Kimbo and Gina? Who know's. I'd love to sign Gina to a contract personally, and Kimbo, well who knows where he'll end up. It certainly won't be the UFC or KOTC if he continues to ask for the money he was making with ProElite. A fighter of his caliber does not warrant a paycheck of $500,000, let alone, $250,000. Sure, he's trying to train correctly and with the proper trainers and take the sport seriously, but he is far away from deserving Chuck Liddell kind of money. On a side note about Kimbo, I got to hang out with Seth Petruzelli at our show in Wisconsin last Saturday. He's a very cool guy.
So again, thanks for all of your concern, but I and my fellow employees are OK. Look for big things from KOTC in the near future, in fact, check the contest section tomorrow, I feel like giving some KOTC stuff away.
