What do you guys think happened to this card?!

Probly not enough glue on the back of the swatch, and it came unstuck and dropped down

I doubt it dropped down. My guess is that UD cut the swatch too small.

Looks like the patch material became unstitched from the red jersey material under it, and the swatch being too small is curling back

It might just be a unique part of the jersey, like some kind of strap, or else it's a fake patch. I would stay away

Not really. I take apart a few cards for customs that have already been damaged, and I've never seen one with enough to room to really even wiggle, nontheless slide out of the window, and although I haven't taken apart any Cup cards, I doubt it's any different.

I wouldn't call it a fake either, since if it was, the faker would probably just redo it.

I think it's either probably what was stated earlier in the thread, the patch peeling back, or an UD screwup. I know a while back they were caught relayering cards onto jerseys that didn't fit right (Wrong color patches on wrong color jersies) as recent as 2006.

The frayed ends suggest that someone tried to put a prime jersey swatch into the window not realizing the size was wrong. Could be Upper Deck, could be "aftermarket", hard to say...

However, the seller appears to have no history of "ZOMG L@@K patches" to suggest that he faked it himself.

it looks to me like the white patch with a black underside folded up from the bottom left corner revealing the red jersey underneath. whether or not it came out of the pack that way is anyones guess but you can see the white is stitched onto the black. that's just my crazy theory.

I don't think it is fake at all...someone might have tampered with it, but it's not fake. It looks like a white patch that had a stitch on it...someone pulled up one of the edges to reveal red jersey material and voila!, a solid looking thee colour patch card.

wasn't there an issue with relayering brodeur patches in 05-06 ultimate? I think I remember seeing/hearing about colour schemes that didn't make sense. maybe this is another relayer job gone awry?

I believe that was 04-05 Ultimate. That year they also messed around with Sakics patches which made them looked fairly ugly because they put 2 completely miss-matched patches in one window.
