Hi all,

As some people may know, I collect Young Guns Exclusives /100 of NHL players and higher end prospects. I recently won this lot on eBay for what thought was a great price....

YG Exclusives Lot

Nothing spectacular, but there are a couple solid prospects in there....I picked it up mainly for the Niederreiter, Paajarvi, Dwight King, Mark Dekanich, Grachev, Nikitin, Palmieri and Gionta. But at less than $2.50 shipped per card, I thought it was a smokin' deal.

But when I got the lot, it was not exactly as described. NOt that I noticed at first, but I was actually having coffee with Trev (fritz) when I opened the package, and he noticed it, when I didn't.....two of them were not YG Exclusives /100 as described :(

They were Platinum/High Gloss Exclusives /10 instead!!! The Fayne is kinda "Meh" but to nab a solid upper level prospect like Niederreiter is unbelievable!! That card alone is worth more than I paid for the entire lot. Since I don't collect HG RC's, those two will make their way to my trade page. Anybody else have something show up that was not as described, but even better?

Did you get 23 cards or more than that? Is it possible the seller made a shipping error?

No, I got the 23 cards. There was no Fahey or Niederreiter /100 included, so he must not have noticed they were the platinum version, or decided it didn't matter one way or the other. He sells a lot of Exclusives...I've looked at some of his lots before but he's never listed HG's.

Great pickups Rob and great luck on the lot. Sure you'll fetch some nice pieces for those, especially the Niederreiter. Congrats.

I bought two cards from 2008-09 BTP on eBay, a Tony Esposito game-used number and a Vladislav Tretiak game-used emblem, that turned out to be gold 1/1 versions despite the listings making no mention of it. Two very pleasant surprises when I opened the bubble mailers :)

Back when I collected Lecavalier, I purchased an 03-04 BAP Memorabilia Emerald from North-of-7, as has pretty much everyone else who ever collects ITG stuff. Anyways, no mention of the serial number anywhere, so I won it for a fair price. Turned out the be the 4/10, or Vinny's jersey number card. If that had been mentioned, I wouldn't have been surprised to see it end for at least twice as much.

That was the same seller that sold a lot of 23 cards to me. I bought a lot thinking that they were all exclusives numbered out of 100 and it has a Khabibulin and an Anderson and two of the cards were /10.

Great Success!

I bought 97-98 SPX Gold Vanbiesbrouck, got the extremely rare Grande Finale /50 version instead. Needles to say I was a very happy when I realised this error.

You should contact the seller and let him know of his mistake. Most likely they will let you keep the cards, but someone else in the world could be wondering why they have a Frayne/Nino /100 instead of /10. Or not.

Has happened twice recently.

I purchased a lot of UFC cards for a couple of the parallels I was looking for toward a set I was building. The seller had laid out all the cards in the listing and their serial numbers, except for one which he had listed as a "black refractor." I thought he was referring to the base card refractor but when it arrived, it was the Octafractor /8. I look to obtain random Octafractors and Plates too, so this is a great addition to the pile.

I bought another 28 card lot under the same pretenses (had a couple parallels I was looking for.) It mentioned that it had 9 numbered cards, and the rest of the cards were shown in the listing, but looked like they were base cards from the angle of the photo, which to me was fine because the rest of the cards were worth the lot price and then some. When it arrived yesterday, the other 19 cards were base Refractors, from which I'm also trying to build a set, so this is huge because it's almost 20% of the set done in one fell swoop.

Needless to say, recent eBaying gets a thumbs up from me.

I was about to post wondering if I was the only person thinking this way but obviously not...

It is a nice bonus, for sure, but shouldn't you throw the seller a note letting him know, to give him a heads-up in case he did make an error?

If he says "keep 'em" then awesome :)
