I am still tired from the show but in a good way. It was 4 days of networking, hanging with old friends, avoiding the Rif Raf and a bit of comedy. If there is a recession, it was not at this show. People spent hard.
Comedy:
• I was asked to have a picture by a few nice gents. I was genuinely shocked but it was because I had shown my face on SCL and on my own podcast. It was weird and funny at the same time.
• A CEO of a well-known card company and I were haggling over a $200 purchase. We split down the difference down to the cent. LOL..
• I was given $50 CAD by an American buyer for a $5 card. Chased him down to correct the situation. He was confused by our monopoly money lol
• I gave free cards to a kid. His Dad made him give back because he didn’t want junk. If he looked at what I gave him, it was not junk. The kid gave me the look of “ I hate my Dad right now “ LOL.
• I made change for a guy who wanted to buy a card and gave him back all of his money and the card. We both stared at each other for what felt like an eternity to figure out what the **** just happened lol. After we both laughed, we corrected the situation lol.
• In my past expos, there was a customer who gave me a really hard time over a few cheap cards. I believe it was a total of $15 dollars for a smattering of cheap cards. Given his obnoxiously cheap commentary. I politely told him that I don’t do this full time. He was being persistent to the fact that I told him to leave. At this Expo, I kept running into him and he would dash into another aisle.
Highlights:
• I had dinner with 5 or 6 guys on Saturday and we laughed/reminisced for hours about the old days of the hobby prior to the boom of the expo and COVID. We’ve been at this for far too long.
• Interviewing Tim Getsch, CEO of COMC.
• Hanging with Billy Celio
• The networking event at Jack Astors that is hosted by Jeremy. Wow crazy packed.
• Met quite a few peeps from the boards here!
• Seeing the PSA Canada booth and I was in AWE!
• The amount of people who were there. All three 4 days were packed!
• Talking about the Buffalo Bills with the crew from D&A. We were sad but still in love with our teams.
• I was on a panel to discuss the impact of Connor Bedard on the hobby with our own Jeremy Lee.
• I was given a compliment by a few of my buyers that my cards were close to average comps. That made me feel good. Felt even better after they took a good chunk of cards from me.
o On a side note, I did have a few fishing expeditions so I expected people to **** the bed on those ones lol
• Thursday and Friday were my favorite days at the show. People came, pointed, handed me cash and walked away. Oddly enough the tire kickers were focused around the $20 or less cards. Usually it’s the other way around.
• Cards were moving quickly from my showcase card boxes. That felt good
• I entered the show with a goal to NOT buy cards. I did receive deals I had done prior to the show but other than that, I think I purchased 3 collections and stayed at my booth the whole time.
Comedy:
• I was asked to have a picture by a few nice gents. I was genuinely shocked but it was because I had shown my face on SCL and on my own podcast. It was weird and funny at the same time.
• Steve Menzie introduced me to his son Stas. However I heard “Staff” and thought to myself, wow that is cold. Make your son work for you and call him Staff. Later that night, I was corrected but it made for a good few moments of hilarity.

• Ran into co-workers, neighbors, people from my hockey teams. It was weird as I tend to keep my hobby life separate from my every life in hockey, work etc.
The Ugly:
• Parking was a night mare. I took an uber on Friday, Saturday instead.
• People who are cheap but have money and I know because I know them lol
• Coffee was ****
• Bathrooms were at an all-time worse.
• A bunch of us were in the bathroom doing our business to witness a guy pull down his pants and do #2 with the door open. The sound effects and smell made us all gag,
• The line between buildings was insane. It took me 20 minutes to get through.
• Chris Carlin forgot who I was. Oh boy.. I really must not be in his good books.
• I can't stand wrestling and obnoxious wrestling fans. I know there are a lot of fans in here but holy ****.. its not real for the love of God. I hope Rick Flair doesn't come back. lol
Pick-ups:
• A few bulk lots
• A few COMC bulk lots
• Employee PMG lot. I always wanted this.
• Happy Memories
