I have been thinking about the Expo for the past month.
Picked up a few nice lots and for the most part I am pretty much ready to go.
However I had an inkling to change it up a bit for a few reasons..

-My kids are at an age where they need me full time for their various activities so i have less time for cards.

-I am moving cards faster through other means and don't need to rely on Expo for sales. I literally have 4 avenues where other people help me move my stuff for a fee and its FAST!

-Expo is a chance to catch up with long lost friends moreso that just cards

-Pricing is changes happen so fast, its often difficult to price cards. I used to live by the rule of everything has a price but this isn't a sustainable model methinks for the items I ended bringing to the expo.

I normally have 5 - 6 showcases and 10 cent commons box for left over trash for the 1 or 2 guys who have no issue sitting for 3 hours picking out their favourite commons and shooting the ****.

Here is what I am proposing..

Go with 3-4 show cases
2 show cases of cards but no prices
2 show cases with cards priced like usual
Set up 3 3200 count dollar boxes so people can rifle through and pick out what they want across wrestling, UFC, hockey, baseball, football and what-the-hell-is-this-crap cards.

Or screw it i just go with what I have always done?

No price tags is a horrible idea. Sorry man but it’s not a museum. Some folks attending the show might not have the time or desire to dicker around. Just my opinion of course but if I’m setting up or attending price tags make it easier to strike a deal. And you look like a real pro if you’re paying for space might as well put your whole a$$ into it.

If moving to this new approach gives you more time with your kids- DO IT!! It sounds like your kids are old enough that they may/will/could notice that you are spending a little less time with cards and more time with them. As a parent, that always a win. Cards are cool and fun, but your kids are so much more valuable.

Also, the fact that you thought of this change makes me think that you actually WANT this change. You said, you aren't "needing" the expo to move product, so it shouldn't hurt your bottom line. If it gives you less stress, more time with your kids and less prep work to do, seems almost like a no brainer. There is enough stress in our lives that making things a little less stressful is a good thing. Go for it!

I want to end with stating that in no way am I suggesting you don't spend enough time with your kids already or any other negative angle at all. All the best with whichever path you choose to go.

As stated above, if there are no prices, 99% chance I won’t even bother to ask how much. Then if I end up asking and the price is way above comps, you either have to bring up the comps which is kind of a douche move or walk away awkwardly which I don’t like.

3200 ct boxes with clear pricing are also very fun to sift through.

Looking forward to see you at Expo Ameet!

Yes same here!
Ok pricing it is and with 3200 count boxes!

Pricing MAIN showcase pieces for sure....maybe for the other showcases don't price them and do some kind of denomination (based on quality of cards) like $25 each or 5 for $100, $5 each or 5 for $20....I always like peeling through those types of showcases

no prices if fine, if someone asks, just do a quick lookup, it means youll be bogged down a bit doing that but either you spend the time now or then

Please always price cards in a showcase. When I go to the Expo and see a showcase with no pricing on the cards I’ll still ask about a card or two. If the card is prices big time over comps I’ll just move on. It could just be that those two are highly priced and taut other cards in your showcase are underpriced and I would pick them up.
