Sad...................... :foottap:

I sent note to seller. He either did this, or he acquired it after it was faked and is unsuspecting.

Why do 90% of the fake patches seem to be coming from Ontario. I remember a couple guys from the US doing this in hockey but seemed to have stopped or switched ID's and haven't been caught yet. Maybe it's just me but seems like the rest of Canada doesn't seem to be selling as many frauds.

I bought a card from him last year that I found out to be a fake. I would stay away from that seller. He has very few feedback as a seller and most of his cards were rookies which had some of the best patches I have ever seen. He must buy a lot of plain patch cards and then once the card goes away from ebay sale history puts his altered cards up. He doesn't seem to sell too many at a time and spreads out his auctions. The card I bought had some pretty good signs of damage in person that wasn't noticeable in the pictures and the patch didn't look real at all.

He's probably using his other Dominion rookies as a decoy and saved the best patches for the rookies with the most value.

Hate seeing this stuff in the hobby... It ruins everything, especially for those elite player collectors and top rookie cards. Their cards are in so much demand, you know these guys are targeting these high-end releases & the patches to fake. You can't trust sellers anymore (Not all sellers are bad, just the few "bad apples" can ruin it for everyone) Because of the increasing number of fake patches, it can be hard to tell what you're actually receiving.

This is true.....these particular asshat(s)from Ontario usually have low feedback and list a handful of patch cards where most are plain with the big names having fake patches. I encourage everyone to take a second look with any Ontario seller having feedback of 400 or less and fits the description described above.

Why would they fake those? They are already super patch pieces. Stupid if they did.

Just saying....

agreed, but there are some that have mainly jersey and just a bit of patch that i can see these skid marks ruining. just thought i'd ask.

does anyone know if they have been faking any Panini Prime color patches? namely Sidney Crosby?

Not all of them are super patch pieces. There are some really simple boring pieces that would be prime candidates for the skid marks of the hobby to alter.

But to answer your question Sean, I have never heard of anyone doing that yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if there are some fakes out there already.

Thx Jeremy, exactly right.
why i ask is, i've just picked up a crazy nice Crosby from 13-14 and have been going over it with a fine tooth comb and it totally looks legit, but with these skids doing it to small patches i just hate to think that they may have started on "upgrading" some of the bigger patches too...
it sucks that we have to worry about this kind of thing...

If you google panini and their blog I remember seeing a bunch of the complete logos posted all cut up. You might be able to find the Penguins one and see if the patch matches.
