Fake Toews Cup Patch On Ebay

Spotted this last night yet another fake patch. I don't think there are many legit hawks patches left.

Short story about this card...

Earlier this month at National I caught wind that this card was in someone's showcase. So I went over and inquired about it. The vendor told me that the card was a suspected fake. I was pleasantly surprised that he volunteered that info. I pulled out this page on my phone and confirmed that it was fake and showed him the evidence. He told me that he got it in a deal without knowing it was fake.

He went on to say that in his opinion the card would have the same value as a one-color Toews Cup rookie. I shrug-agreed and walked away feeling happy and sad. Happy that the guy was completely honest about the card and sad that a Toews RC was tampered with.

So while he puts this card up on eBay and in the description he clearly states that the patch is fake, I do think he should have made it even more obvious by putting it in the title or subtitle because someone might get very excited at that price and hit the BIN without reading the description. Despite that, I do commend him for honestly stating that it is fake.

Despite the amount of fake patches floating around out there, my perception is that there are still way more legit Hawks patches out there than fake ones.

an altered card to me holds no value really what was there in first place is not anymore and wont be so... its not much different if its badly damaged they shouldnt even put it up thats just wrong.

It didn't say it was fake last night though, he added that info later. Probably after a boat load of emails suggesting it's a fake.

Kind of like I almost did upon first seeing the auction? I then thought that it would make sense to check the archive given the amazing patch and low price. I wasn't surprised to see it as a re-patch, otherwise it would 2-3 times that price.

You can tell in a second its fake. Real blackhawks patches from the logo have stitching.

That is too bad that card has been altered. Whoever wins it will probably try to sell it off as real, the auction should be ended.
