I got a chance to check out the new Fan Expo earlier today in Vancouver. Crazy crowds today; amazing energy! It was basically Halloween hits downtown given all the great superhero costumes.

The check in process was quite brutal though; especially for those ppl that had to wait 2-3 hours in the early morning to get in. But overall it sounds like the usual growing pains for a first-time event. The retailers seemed really happy with their respective sales. And quite a few celebrity personalities (more than i expected) in addition to your usual batch of artists/writers.

My son and his friend enjoyed the selection of toys & hobby cards. For me, i managed to pick up a couple of Marvel variants, both of which I got signed by one of my fave writers...Greg Rucka!

If you love comics and live in the Vancouver area, rejoice in the fact that we now have a true Western Canada main event for the foreseeable future. And if you plan on going to tomorrow's show and don't have tickets...my best advice -> get there EARLY!!!

AMAZING!!!

I'm real excited for the Omega effect... Ironically enough I collect 3 Marvel characters and they are Spiderman, Daredevil and The Punisher. No joke those are my 3 haha

I love Greg Ruckas run on Punisher. I didn't think a non Punishermax would really work after having read Punishermax for several years but Rucka has done a great job! Those are a coupla beauty sigs ya got there!!!

I also like Greg Rucka. I wish he was still over at DC doing Batman stuff however I do enjoy his Marvel stuff and like Ernie I also collect Soidey, DD and some Punisher stuff.

I dropped Daredevil after Bendis left; but that is one title that appears to have generated a lot of new buzz under Waid.

I normally don't care about Spidey; but I find myself reading the new Ultimate version these days. I love the art and new approach to a popular character.

Overall I'm more of a DC guy, but will follow guys like Rucka, Ennis and Warren Ellis wherever they go. Rucka did mention that he's on an extended Punisher run for the foreseeable future; and that the first major story arc will continue all the way until issue 19.
