Hi everybody- Usually I'm pretty easy going about delayed shipping, mix ups and whatnot when it comes to leaving feedback but I need everyone's opinion about what to leave on a recent transaction...here's the auction:

I immediately sent payment, this was Dec 14. Today I get a refund notice from Paypal with a note saying that while he is sorry, the seller reports that he has been searching for the card and finally realized a store employee sold it out of his store. Today being the 30th, he's refunded my payment. I'm thinking I should just not leave any as he did issue a refund, but I'm annoyed that it took two weeks for him to let me know my Christmas gift wouldn't be coming. I'm wondering if he ever had the card at all.

You got a refund with an apology, just leave it at that.

Yeah I'd just let sleeping dogs lay witht that one. It sucks that you don't get the card, though. It would have been nice on his part if the communication were a little better - maybe just send him a message privately indicating that while you're not going to leave a negative feedback, you would have appreciated a little bit more communication and are disappointed about not getting something that you'd wanted for Christmas.

i would leave it alone. the 2 weeks suck but this is a busy time of the year that alot of people spend with families. he sent you a refund so move on. don't leave feedback just yet in the event he magically re-lists the items later on. then you can ding him with a negative.

I'll play devil's advocate here. If the seller would have taken 2 weeks to SHIP the item, I'd say ok, maybe he was busy with the holidays and all. However, to take 2 weeks to realize you DON'T have the item to send to the buyer is unacceptable IMO. He did refund you so I don't think it necessarily warrants a negative but I'd leave him a neutral for the lack of communication

Let it be - Merry Christmas, you know?

This is a 1/1 card that the seller listed on Ebay and then proceeded to sell in his store. This is not some ''little'' mistake on a common card that could have easily fallen through the cracks. If he had it for sale in his store while it was on Ebay, he should have been smart enough to know to check his listing BEFORE he sold it and end it right then and there. To me, this smells of ''someone else came in and offered more than what it sold for on Ebay''

Even if that's the case, Frank, the seller didn't prevaricate or anything - he simply refunded with an apology. While I totally understand Cary's frustration, I don't feel that it merits any further action on her part. Let it lie.

It could be the other way also. Maybe someone sold the card for less than what Carey paid and he tried to get the card back to make more money on it. When he realized he couldn't he gave the refund.
Personally I'd leave it alone and probably avoid the seller in future purchases.

Thanks, guys, I see its best to just let the whole thing be. If its actually a mistake then which of us hasn't made one? I know I have. I just get the feeling that he got a better offer, and I guess that's the way it goes. I just wish people wouldn't use auctions as a "its maybe-sorta for sale" forum. I understand sellers want to have as many people see their items as possible but I think if its on Ebay, its on Ebay, and if its in your store its in your store. This is a topic discussed in length elsewhere so I won't say any more about that. If anyone sees this card for sale somewhere would you PLMK? :) Thanks!
