Finding Murph

Having watched Joe play junior in Penticton for the Knights as a young lad growing up, this documentary left me speechless.....
 
I hope Murph accepts some of the offers of help.

For ages the NHL and PA wanted nothing to do with players' problems once they were out of the league. Eagleson and Zeigler were notorious for this back in the day.
 
A very sad situation. Hope he finds his way off the streets and to some degree of normalcy.

Huge respect for Trevor Kidd.
 
That hurt to watch. I have a daily struggle on whether or not to put my kids into hockey. The more and more I think of, it, the more and more I think its a bad idea.. so sad..

Ameet, don't let the perils of the elite side of hockey sway your decision. The love of the game is best found playing house league hockey, with the ultimate goal to have fun and make new friends, and will stay with them forever. I'm 44 now, and I still go out at least twice a week and play pick up 'with the guys' and if I didn't have that, I'd be a fat(ter) bitter old man sitting on the couch every night.

That is a very stated view point. Thanks man
 
For me what really stood out is Joe mentioning that he reached out to the NHLPA for help. And they would not do anything for him. And he played how many years in the league??? Even if he was no longer playing at least provide him with some support and guidance.

I think that this is a cautionary tale for the current players. It should be viewing for all.
