Verified Trader,
Today I was near the only card shop I am familiar with where I live so I decided to stop by and see what they had. I brought along my girlfriend who seems to be developing a liking for the hobby, which has been great as past friends have not been very supportive of it. At one point she even was looking through bargain bins and pulling out cards she knew I needed for my insert project... how cool is that???
Anyway, I was him-hawing over the idea of picking up a box since I have not busted ANY 09/10 product aside from a few packs of OPC & Victory retail. She liked the idea of taking a risk with a high end product and picked out a box of 09/10 SPGU for me. Here are the results:
Base:
Sam Gagner
Martin Brodeur
Doug Weight
Teemu Selanne
Ryan Getzlaf
Cam Ward
Shea Weber
Sideny Crosby (pictured below)
Rookies/999: Byron Bitz, Alexander Sulzer, Aaron MacKenzie
Base Parallel/100: Zach Parise
Authentic Fabrics: David Booth & Adam Oates
Authentic Fabrics Gold /100: Jordan Staal
Dual Authentic Fabrics /100: Luongo/Kesler
Significance Auto/50: Ryan Miller
Rookie Exclusives Auto/100: Jay Rosehill
Inked Sweaters/50: Claude Giroux
Now at this point you look at results and really not a bad break. 2 autos, 1 auto'd jersey, 3 RCs, a dual jersey, & 3 single jerseys one being /100. I've seen worse breaks of this stuff than that... BUT thats only 5 GU cards.... shouldn't there be a 6th?
AHHHH YES!!!!
there was...
In the first pack of the box, which my girlfriend did open, and it was the first packs of hockey cards she had ever even opened, out came this....
Triple Authentic Fabrics Patches /15 Wayne Gretzky/Steve Yzerman/Mark Messier
I couldn't believe my eyes when she pulled back the first few base cards. All the patches are multi-color. The Gretzky has some stitching with a little bit of white jersey in the bottom left corner. The Yzerman patch speaks for itself and the Messier is a rubber material with some white jersey(hard to see in the scan) on the left. This is the first Gretzky GU cards I've ever owned and easily the best card in my collection.
If you are interested in anything from the break, it is all available except for the triple patch. That isn't going anywhere for a while. Thank you for the long read & look!
