FYI to any US shippers to Canada you can now ship first class mail to Canada with tracking but only through their website USPS.com. I used it once so far and again today. It cost under $8 both times and they sent me e-mail updates on where the package was. Very helpful I must say.

USPS First-Class Package International Service
with E-DELCON (electronic delivery confirmation)
1-2 oz - $6.55
3-4 oz - $7.65

This is the only way I ask to have any cards shipped to Canada and once it hits the border, Canada Post puts a Xpresspost tracking sticker that matches the USPS number.

I WISH we had this option here in Canada when shipping to the states, the best price with tracking Canada to US I can get is:
Tracked Packet - USA, 6 business days, $16.71 or
Xpresspost - USA, 3 to 4 business days, $31.69
for the exact same package.

You can also have this if you print through ebay or through one of the postage vendors (I use Endicia). This has been in place since they upped the charges early in 2013.

do you print out labels from there or something?

Dave

Yes Dave, have to print out from home. It's not offered at the post office only online. Paid with PayPal also.

I had no idea. Lady I see regularly that works at the post office mentioned it to me. Thought I could save some money which I have.

Thanks for the good info...this is great for non-ebay/paypal transactions.

On another note, today I received a Paypal notification from an item that I had purchased from a Canadian Ebay seller. It said that the item was going to be sent Canada Post via PP shipping. It was supposedly sent economy and included a link to the tracking number. This is the first time I have seen anyone from Canada use this method for ebay sales (or anything for that manner). I wonder if PP is offering a similar service to DelCon in Canada now as well?

This is great to hear..it was news to me..thanks a lot for the heads up. I will try this out next week for sure. Does it work for other countries? Sweden for example?

As long as you enter all the info and print the customs form on the USPS, you get tracking even for first class. No insurance is included, but it is tracked and you are covered through Paypal and EBAY if a buyer tries a chargeback.

This is a service that has been offered since January of 2013. That was part of the astronomical postage increase to Canada.

When you print postage online (Ebay, Encidia, Stamps.com ect) with this service, the customs form number that is printed off starts with a LZ instead of LJ.

This form is only trackable if/when all carriers who handle the item scan it. The FCM flat service is also trackable on Canada Post, once again assuming that everyone who handles the item does their job.

Some of the other countries that populate an LZ tracking number are Finland, Germany and Australia just off the top of my head. These should be trackable through the USPS and their home country postal sites.

Other countries like Russia, Slovak and Czech Republic, Norway and Sweden do not populate an LZ number, but an LJ number. The postage label between the two services are identical. They both read, "First Class Mail International". A four ounce package to Sweden via FCM International Package is $8.88 while a FCM Large Envelop/Flat cost $5.10. So if you are printing off postage to those countries go with the cheaper rate and save yourself some coin.

I tried doing a practice run for someone that bought something off of me. I clicked the print shipping label and the only options for shipping I've been given are Priority Mail International and Priority Mail Express International. Wheres the first class mail international?

If it is over 13 ounces it has to be Priority or Express for international.

Hmmmmm ok before i even had the option . of putting in two ounces i only had those two choices for mailing. Even still that quoted me $19 priority which is good to know for expensive cards like what ive been selling on ebay. It costs $23 and change for me to mail registered so theres $4 savings if i had to mail priority. I will look more into this later.

For international shipments, you can ship up to 4lbs and a combined LxWxH of (I think) 36" using First Class Mail. For domestic you can't ship anything above 1lb with FCM, only Priority or Priority Express. Tracking is only available to certain countries however, notably Canada, UK, Australia, Finland, Germany and a few others.

Unless they changed at USPS.com or even Paypal, the only way to get tracking for FCM to any of the mentioned countries is by printing a label through eBay, otherwise your only option is Priority Mail & Prioirty Express.

This may be a dumb question, but can I print the priority mail with tracking for Canada and put it on a bubble mailer? I think so, right? It doesn't have to be in a priority mail mailer, the post office will put a priority mail sticker on it correct?

Thanks,
Seth

I know this thread is about getting tracking to international destinations, but I'll just include this as a reminder for those seeking options: For cheaper cards or when you don't need tracking, a cardboard DVD mailer strengthened with decoys has been working great for $1.36 worldwide ($1.15 for the Global Forever stamp plus 21 cents for non-machinable surcharge - no customs form) - 1-2 thick or 4-5 thin cards.

Yes. You should select the "package/thick envelope" option and steer clear of any options that talk about "flat rate" envelope or package.

I've tried this before. Just a couple weeks ago the Gallagher Artifacts RC Jersey /125 I sent came to the buyer with a crease down the middle (as well as the dvd-style mailer it was sent in).

If it has decoys in front and back, the gorilla at the post office would really have to be trying to bend it in half to actually crease it. I'm not saying I don't believe you and I'm sure it will happen to me one day, but that's bad action on someone's part along the way. I also write "Do Not Bend" on the mailer, but of course that won't stop anyone who wants to mess with it anyway.
