First Pics of Captain America from "First Avenger"...

Okay, the one caption says the nazi guys are driving 'futuristic bikes'...

Given that the scenes are probably from the 1940's portion of the movie, and it's now 2010, what is the correct terminology here??

I'm so confused... :D

I will admit, seeing those pictures, I'm more and more concerned this is going to be another lame attempt at a Cap movie...

I don't like that the majority of the movie is set in the 1940s. I wish they would just make superhero movies that start off in the middle of a fight with some crazy bad guy, assuming that the people watching the movie already know the origin story. This movie has been said to be a "recollection" of sorts by Captain America. It takes place in current times but it's about him telling someone about his origin.

Here's a still shot from ComicCon with Chris Evans as Captain America...

Cory - "Horsecrap" I think is the word you're looking for.

And if this movie truly represents a recollection by Cap, that actually heartens me some. I, like others, have been dismayed by the youthful chap given the nod to play the elder patriarch of the Marvel Universe. (I'm trying hard to reign in the inner geek, but I may fail...) That doesn't fit when you're telling the present day story, and Cap - strategist, tactitian and leader extraordinaire - is trying to credibly lead a Norse God, a world-leading technological magnate, and a six-ton impossibly strong rage-fuelled beast. If it's a recollection, you have ample room to age him to where he can credibly BE That Guy.

I was actually disappointed by the fact that Mark Valley from "Human Target" (if you haven't seen this show yet, it's FLICKIN' AWESOME) wasn't cast as Captain America. Mind you, he's in his 40s and if they want to sign someone to a 9 picture deal, then unfortunately Chris Evans was the way to go.

If this guy doesn't scream "Steve Rogers", I don't know who would...

That's just it. There were LOADS of good choices among more mature actors. Casting Evans is only going to be useful for what amounts to a giant flashback.

You know what - I've always been a big fan of Cap, and I actually liked not knowing the low down of his supposed participation in the War. I could only imagine how great this person was to command the respect required to lead the bunch of Avengers you noted, pick up Thor's hammer, take on the Hulk one on one, etc.

If this turns out to be a WWII movie with Cap interjected into it, I don't think it'll be what I was expecting, nor as a fan will it play true to my expectations of the character; in fact, it'll be a let down.

That said, I'm going to watch it and enjoy it - I just reserve the right to kvetch all over it afterwards... :)
