Went down to visit mom last weekend and cleared out most of my stuff from her crawl space. It's been down there for a good seven years so it's been a while since most of it has seen the light of day. Anyways, amongst the goods are three boxes of comic books - one with Spider-Man, one with Batman & Superman, and one with a bunch of random stuff.

It's all early 1990's so I don't know how much value there is to much of it. There's the entire Doomsday arc for Superman including some Funeral For a Friend and the return issues, the Knightfall/Quest/End trilogy arc, and a good 2-3 years of Spider-Man issues. I really hated that Clone Saga and that's actually what made me quit collecting at the time. I think I still have the Maximum Carnage storyline floating around in there - that was some good stuff.

Anyways, if there's anybody here that is interested in early 90's comics drop me a message and we can discuss what's in there, what they're worth, etc. I'd like to be able to move as much of it as possible to collectors/friends, and if I can get some info that would be a great start point.

Should I tweet The Iron Sheik about this?

Dont wanna burst your bubble... but very similar to hockey cards, a lot of the 90s is poopy.

Comics are more or less broken down by era.

Golden age, Silver age, Bronze age, Copper age and modern.

Golden/Silver were by FAR the biggest and most expensive comics because they were generally 1940s-60s and features all the first appearances of all the key characters (like my comic sig). As the ages get more modern, they have less and less BIG first appearances so values diminish.

Moderns from the 90s are the least valuable. Current stuff (2000s and up) started doing a lot of limited variants, etc so the values increased. Again, its very similar to hockey cards in that manner. Only EVERYONE collects the old comics while there are very few collectors of old hockey cards (in comparison to those who collect new stuff).

There are some big firsts in the 80s however (i.e Deadpools) that command 3 figure prices (New Mutants #98) so its tough to give you a value without seeing everything.

Yeah I figured that was the case - checked a few of the more notable issues through eBay and it's sad to see most of them sell for less than cover price!

It seems like you can luck out with a few arcs or lots, but even the collector's edition of Superman 75 can be had for a few bucks. Ah well, if nothing else it'll make for a good garage sale type thing and make a few money along the way.
