Well, I figured that it would eventually happen, and it did today. Upper Deck re-released the print runs for the patches in 04-05 UD1 today and consequently my precious Sakic patch is not out of 5, but is in fact out of 20. Bleh... :(

However, that is not the purpose of this post...today I wanted to find out just how limited 04-05 UD1 hobby really is, so I compaired it to last year's Series 1 hobby, and here's what I found out;

I found the easiest way to figure things out would be to total the amount of case cards and then that would yield the entire print run.
So in 04-05 UD1 there are a total of 38 auto jerseys (with a print run of 25 each) and 13 dual auto jerseys (10 of each) meaning;
38 x 25 = 950
13 x 10 = 130
giving a total of 1080 04-05 UD1 hobby cases. Seems like a lot, right?

Well consider; Last year's Series 1 cases featured a buyback auto per case. Opening the latest Beckett Quarterly shows the print run on each of the buybacks, and they totalled 1986. Thus there are approximately 1986 hobby cases of the 03-04 UD1.
So it's no wonder that this year's Upper Deck sold out so quickly...actually, no, wait...it is a wonder. No matter how limited this year's Upper Deck is, it still stinks! :p

funny thing - when you mentioned swift kick in the crotch, before even reading the thread, I thought "Upper Deck"

More fun: They have the print run for the Signature Moments cards as being out of 175. they have no bloody idea how much they're even pumping into the market.

Just wait till "SP Ultimate Cashgrab Authentic Series 1 Redemption" comes out.

The corrected print runs are also on the Upper Deck web page. Nothing like taking a (possibly) $300 card and turning it into a $100 card with a simple change of numbers :mad:
Though it's not shocking since the packs clearly state that the numbers patches fall 1:2500 and the names patches fall 1:7500...so their original print runs just didn't make any sense at all.
That doesn't stop me from being peeved though :p

Looks like my Roenick Numbers patch is now out of 20 instead of out of 8. Very, very disappointing.

It could/probably is, less cases than that.
I had heard a number of 600 hobby.
Patches fall across the entire run (retail + hobby) so that case# is a little different.

I am continuing to question the authenticity of the Comrie Auto/Jersey.
I would like the card if it ever shows up, but, to this point, it has not.
