Now seems like an allright time to give this a bump.

With Ryne Sandberg's somewhat controversail induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, A Hall of Fame thats far more exclusive than Inclusive. Let's ahve some fun with the HHOF.

Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Rocket Richard, Terry Sawchuk, Guy Lafleur, Bubby Hull, Bernie Federko - which name seems out of place?

I'll level the playing field a bit: Paul Coffey, Grant Fuhr, Borje Salming, Yvon Cournoyer, Brad Park, Clark Gilles - which name looks out of place here?

How about this: Bernie Federko, Cam Neely, Clark Gilles, Dino Ciccarelli. Which out of the 4 would you put in the Hall?

How about this: You're a GM - You have Bernie Federko in his prime playing for your team. Another GM phones you and offers Cam Neely in his prime straight up for Bernie. Would you do it?

How can you tell its a slow day at work over here for me??

I myself thought Sandberg was a good choice personally - a lot of Baseball writers believe that Andre Dawson, Jack Morris, Gary Suter, or even Lee Smith deserved to be in before Ryno.

Baseball:
What is going on with Rice? He should have been in by now. Long overdue there as well.
Hockey:
I'd take Cam Neely any day of the week. I would lose no sleep making that deal. I have seen Neely play and he was awesome. Neely is someone that also belongs in the Hall. I am like many Boston fans that wish he was able to stay healthy and have played another ten years.

i still cant beleive that bernie federko is in but dino ciccarelli isnt

600+ goals isnt enough for the voting comittee, what more does it take

I was not surprised to see Gillies inducted. He won a Memorial Cup. He was the captain of a young franchise and help lead them to four stanley cups. He had He had 700 Regular season points and 100 more playoff points. He won 2 Canada Cups. Pretty impressive I'd say.

Steve Shutt had over 400 Regular season goals and I'm concinved that despite that and his Stanley Cups he'd be seen as borderline today.

Gilles should be in, hands down. As for comparing Neely and Federko and their prime and relating that to the HHOF is not right. If Neely had played 20 seasons, even 15 he would be in for sure. The issue with him was the shortened career. No comparing apples and oranges.

Bossy and Orr had short caree......let's try that again :D

LaFontaine - shortened career - and he's in. Much better.

dont compare lafontaine to neely just look at the stats, lafontaine passed the 1000 points and 1+ pts/game wich neely didnt do, 2 or 3 more years by neely and he would be in no questions, dont compare Orr to neely, theyre not even in the same ballpark

neely 726 395 299 694
lafontaine 865 468 545 1013

Face it. Neely is very close to HHOF material. Fact is, he isn't. He has an outside chance of one day getting in but I feel Ciccarelli has a better chance.

I expected to hear this about Gilles - lets oput it this way - had he played for any team that wasn't the Isles or Oilers, would he be in? Nope.

And in all seriousness, comparing Neely to Federko is more like comparing an Apple to a canned grape.

Was Federko, who never won anything in his life, really that much more HOF worth than Neely?

Sorry, but that made me laugh out loud! I watched Bernie play through most of his career - Same with Neely.

Federko's numbers are very similar to Vincent Damphousses. Does Vinny get in the HOF? Similar numbers, and a Stanley Cup to boot. Ditto Bernie Nicholls

Federko got in before Ciccarelli, whose numbers blow Bernie's away. Is Bernie more HOF worthy than Dino?

For the record, Neely - 3 50 goal seasons, NHL Second All-Star Team (1988, 1990, 1991, 1994)
Bill Masterton Trophy (1994), appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Federko - 1 40 goal season, no awards. - to his credit, Federko did have 10 straight 50 Assist seasons, but that's about it. Not quite the same as Bossy's and Gretzky's 9 straight 50 goal seasons.

Gillies would have ben in the H of F on a Smythe Division team as well. He played in the hard hitting defensive Patrick Division and still amassed a lot of points. If he played for Calgary or Vancouver or L.A. he would have had 1000 career points.
