I've been reading some interesting articles and commentary lately about the addictive nature of XBox achievements and PS3 trophies, and how far some gamers will take it just to rack up their scores or earn the trophies. I've seen some people say they "wouldn't touch a game without achievements" no matter how great the game may be, as though a game is only as good as the achievements within it or its not worth the time if it doesn't improve your "status" in the community.

To the other gamers on here, what are your thoughts on these? Do you have to do whatever it takes to earn every one even if it means hours of grinding at the same task? Do you think they're a nice bonus but don't really go out of your way to get them? Do you not care about them at all?

I enjoy working towards some achievements. And if i happen to get 100% on a game than thats cool. But i dont go out of my way to grind them out. Saying that i just checked a site and i have 64% Completion Percentage of achievements. :whatthehell:

I do wish that you could "trade in" your achievement points towards currency on xbox. would give more incentive to grind out some achievements some would otherwise not worry about.
