Normally I'd never bother posting a case break of OPC, but this one takes the cake. So last year I opened 10 cases and there were awful collation issues. For the most part they seem to be better this year with some exceptions. I had 15 cases this year, but having moved from a big house in Texas to a smaller apartment in LA, space was tight and I just didn't have the time or space to break the cases I was already committed to. So I sold about four and had 11 cases sitting in a corner, just staring me down. At this point of the year, if I can't sell the wax, I might as well just break it. Besides, I love OPC. Don't know why since I didn't grow up with it, but I think it's just the overall basic feel of it. The retro cards always look great, and the rainbow cards are always fun. Plus some other good inserts and it's a no brainer that I'm going to break these cases.

So first one last night. Start off with a nice Gretzky Retro. Always a nice way to start the first box, right?

Then a few boxes later, a Gretzky All-Timers.

Then after hitting one plug auto, around the 9th box or so, I get this Team Canada Auto:

So I'm still due another auto by the odds, a regular auto. Well, in the 11th box I hit my regular auto, Dan Girladi. Exciting, I know. But just a few packs before that, I am gifted this by the Upper Deck collation gods:

Yep, two Team Canada Gretzky autos in the same case. Last year I was blessed with the ridiculous black rainbow collation where I had about 1.5% of the print run and now this. I think I'm going to up the order next year to 20 cases!

wow, VERY nice!

I don't think another case/box could top this one, so you might as well stop now.

This years OPC was really well done and I feel like a lot of singles have got value on the secondary market.

I'd have to agree.

Thanks for the pics and a hearty congrats,

Brian

You may have to contact the manufacturer and complain <kidding>..
Now 2 Gretzky's in one case awesome. Very nice design and clean signature as well.

If I stop now, I'll have these cases just staring at me for another four months...can't have that!

I agree with you about the execution this year. I love all of the designs. Base, retro, rainbow, and black rainbow all look great, especially the two rainbow versions and I'm not a shiny lover, so that's saying something. The auto design is excellent as well. Just about done sleeving and toploading one case, now onto the next!

Best case of OPC ever?

There's lots of cool cards in that release, but hit what (I'm guessing) is the best card in the entire release, twice in the same case, that's pretty amazing.

Man, I knew I should have bought a case from you!

Haha, glad you got to open that one. Nice break! Hopefully you can pull me an Avs Blank or two as now.

You were right Bill (in your e-mail) without a though "a sweet case".
You UPPED me by ONE Great ONE!
Keep me in mind for the wrappers and also the OPC Team Logo Patch cards.

For the record the second case yielded autos of two guys I'm not even sure are in the league any more...Raphael Diaz and Jack Skille.
