Between this and Assassins Creed IV my spare time this fall will be spent on the PS3, at least until I get my hands on a PS4.

I will be taking a pass on this. The GTA fun factor has really been dwindling IMO with each successive release. Just find that as a lot of these games get more realistic, the fun just ain't there.

GTA4 was a bit of a letdown compared to San Andreas in terms of game mechanics, range of vehicle types, terrain variation, etc. However Rockstar has had a lot of time to put GTA5 together, and if Red Dead Redemption is any indication they have mastered the PS3 hardware and I'm very confident GTA5 will be many times better than GTA4 was. It definitely seemed that GTA4 was the victim of growing pains associated with a new console and maybe a rushed development as a lot of the GTA:SA mechanics and features were left on the cutting room floor. Judging by the previews and trailers I think Rockstar will be pushing the PS3 to the limit with GTA5 and blowing away GTA4 but I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

I'm not a huge gamer but I've always loved the GTA games so I'm very excited for this to come out.

Only a couple more days until launch. I have this pre-ordered at Walmart but I think I'll still be "running some errands" at lunch to make sure I grab my copy early in case demand is higher than anticipated around here.

Has anybody in Canada had issues pre-ordering from Walmart before? I'm still skeptical of their "pre-order" system as every time I've redeemed a pre-order card they've just grabbed a regular copy from the shelf instead of a reserve of copies. Makes me think the pre-orders are only a tool to get them more than their allocated amount of copies to sell first-come-first-served. I've seen American pre-order cards specify the copy will be held for up to 10 days but my Canadian card says no such thing, it only calls it a "deposit".
