Hey all,

I was at work this morning (I work at the Halifax Int'l Airport), just outside watching people unload their cars coming into the airport and waiting for my flightcrew to show up, when a blue Grand Cherokee pulls up right in front of me. An absolutely beautiful woman gets out of the passenger seat, and the driver gets out as well. After I picked my jaw up off the ground and wiped the drool from my chin, I notice the driver unloading bag after bag of stuff from the back. I glanced at the drivers face, and something clicked in my little pea-brain. I thought to myself, " ****, I know that guy from somewhere"....not five seconds later it hit me......it was Jean Sebastien Giguere!! He had at least 10 bags including his huge goalie gear bag and a big pile of sticks. He looked at me, noticed me staring, and gave me a nod of his head. Then he hopped back in the truck and drove off to find a spot to park and get some luggage carts. Knowing full well that baggage carts are at a premium at that time of the morning, and people were lined up everywhere to check in, I ran inside, grabbed a couple of carts and went back outside to load his luggage onto the carts for his wife. She thanked me profusely, at which point I looked up to see Giguere coming towards me with a big look of surprise on his face. I explained to him that I was a huge hockey fan, and expressed my pleasure to meet him. He stuck out his hand and shook mine, whereby I asked him if he was returning to Anaheim. He replied yes, to which I replied that I wished him luck with the lockout situation and a safe flight. He looked at his wife (who is from the area, they were visiting her family for the holidays) and said, "I forgot how friendly you Maritimers were...." ( he played his Jr career for the local QMJHL team the Halifax Mooseheads), thanked me again and went inside to check in. I didn't bother to ask for an autograph, since he obviously had his hands full, but it was cool to hold his goalie gear and the bag he keeps his helmet in.....he and his wife were super nice.....not many players like that any more given the current situation......

Thanks for the read!!

Just want to tell you that is an awesome story, a few months ago, I was at a Lightning banquet and ended up meeting Dave Andreychuk and Tim Taylor.. fortunately they didn't have their hands full so I was able to obtain a couple of autographs.. It was the best feeling in the world, congrats to you for being able to experience that moment and thanks for sharing

CJ,

An airport is the best place in the world to work at....if you can handle the lack of job security...LOL.....I've been laid off 3 times in the last 4 years because of the downturn in the industry....but it's such a fun place to work, I keep going back.....dumb me...;)

you should hook me up with some employment out that way! lol

we'll have to meet sometime & do some trading, if i ever find any tanguays you need hahaha :D or perhaps hit up the next show at the forum?

I live probably 10 minutes from you so it wouldn't be hard to meet up & go :)

very cool story.
Closest I came to meeting some pros was when I was in the Navy a few years back. (OK about 8 yrs back)
The Hartford wolfpack were coming to tour the Submarine Base I was stationed at. It was kept very quiet that they were going to be there but they were going to stop at the galley (cafeteria) to eat. My buddy worked that, had the heads up. We got some cards together and stopped over and greeted them after they ate just before they left. The team signed a t-shirt for my buddy's wife and some cards for us. Some of the notables (well sort of):
Chris Winnes
Chrisitan Dube
Vladimir Vorobiev

and my fav sig:
Marc Savard on his RC

absent from the trip that day which still irks me to this day:
Dan Cloutier

I hit up d&m on the way home from work sometimes if I'm early enough, or some saturdays I pop in for a bit when I drop my gf off at work. She works just down the road. I've probably seen you in there lol, I usually stick around & look at stuff/chat it up a little when I'm there, but I only really make it in there maybe every 6 weeks or so :(

Well, we should hook up some time soon.....I dunno if I'm gonna make the next show or not, because I work Saturday Mornings now, but next time you're thinking of heading in that direction, LMK, and maybe we'll meet up.....I've usually got a bunch of stuff in Warren's showcase on consignment, so I swing by quite often.

Nice, but it can't beat my big "meeting" with Bubba Ray Dudley!! :p (you gotta be a WWE fan to know who I'm talking about...although I do have to say WWE is terrible now and I couldn't care less anymore).

Anyway, was getting on a plane for my honeymoon a few years back and noticed this big dude about 10 feet away....wasn't sure if it was him or not then. Anyway, got on the plane and noticed I was right across the aisle from him...unfortunately he slept the whole flight so I didn't get to say anything to him, however as he slept I got to get a better look to verify it was him! He was heading back to Florida after the Raw show in T.O. the night before. Didn't think WWE guys would be flying coach with us regular joe's but anyway, thought that was kinda cool, even though I never got to talk to the guy.

Bubba Ray is actually pretty funny.....the company I work for at the airport does the checkin for the WWE charter flights, when they are in town....I've met every major WWE wrestler that's wrestled in the last 5 years.....the nicest? Kane and the Hurricane by far.....the not-so-nicest? Undertaker and Mark Henry....Angle, Stone Cold, the Rock, Edge, Christian, Matt and Jeff Hardy were all pretty cool too.....in fact most of them are pretty nice....
