Hey all,
I was at work this morning (I work at the Halifax Int'l Airport), just outside watching people unload their cars coming into the airport and waiting for my flightcrew to show up, when a blue Grand Cherokee pulls up right in front of me. An absolutely beautiful woman gets out of the passenger seat, and the driver gets out as well. After I picked my jaw up off the ground and wiped the drool from my chin, I notice the driver unloading bag after bag of stuff from the back. I glanced at the drivers face, and something clicked in my little pea-brain. I thought to myself, " ****, I know that guy from somewhere"....not five seconds later it hit me......it was Jean Sebastien Giguere!! He had at least 10 bags including his huge goalie gear bag and a big pile of sticks. He looked at me, noticed me staring, and gave me a nod of his head. Then he hopped back in the truck and drove off to find a spot to park and get some luggage carts. Knowing full well that baggage carts are at a premium at that time of the morning, and people were lined up everywhere to check in, I ran inside, grabbed a couple of carts and went back outside to load his luggage onto the carts for his wife. She thanked me profusely, at which point I looked up to see Giguere coming towards me with a big look of surprise on his face. I explained to him that I was a huge hockey fan, and expressed my pleasure to meet him. He stuck out his hand and shook mine, whereby I asked him if he was returning to Anaheim. He replied yes, to which I replied that I wished him luck with the lockout situation and a safe flight. He looked at his wife (who is from the area, they were visiting her family for the holidays) and said, "I forgot how friendly you Maritimers were...." ( he played his Jr career for the local QMJHL team the Halifax Mooseheads), thanked me again and went inside to check in. I didn't bother to ask for an autograph, since he obviously had his hands full, but it was cool to hold his goalie gear and the bag he keeps his helmet in.....he and his wife were super nice.....not many players like that any more given the current situation......
Thanks for the read!!
