Times being what they are, and not working regularly since mid-summer, I am contemplating selling my Marc Andre Fleury 09-10 Playoff home jersey, which was the jersey he wore in the last Pens game ever played in Mellon Arena (or the Civic Arena, which is what I grew up with). The jersey has plenty of wear, but since the Pens got bounced in round 2 by Montreal, not as much as some other jerseys of his. I can provide photos if there is interest.
Definite paint marking in the numbers from the goal posts, a puck mark across the nose of the penguin on the chest, and lots of puck marks on the arms. The jersey was purchased from J&J Distributing, who buys all of the Penguin jerseys directly from the team. This jersey has a COA from J&J Distributing, that bears the signature of the Pens VP of Marketing and is also signed on the fight strap by Dana Heinze, Equipment Manager.
None of Fleury's jerseys from the last several years seem to make it into the market, I know that J&J sells almost all of MAF's jerseys to one big Fleury collector. I have seen that guy's collection at the jersey and equipment expo's they held for the last couple of years.
Anyway, PM me with offers or inquiries, if anyone is interested. Do some homework, please don't lowball and if you hate Fleury or the Pens, well, keep it to yourself.
I bought this jersey because I am a Fleury fan, but more because it was the last jersey worn in a game at the arena.
My father worked at the Civic Arena from the day it opened, and I spent many, many nights there with him. The deal was, if I had all my homework done, and no tests the next day in school, I could tag along with him. He would fix me up with an usher or two that he knew, so I would have a seat. I would watch the games until he was done, and we would either watch the rest together or head home if it was not going well. There were a TON of those games.....until Le Magnifique showed up. Then it was much harder to hang out there without a ticket, but we seemed to manage still. I practically lived at that building.....Pens games, Pittsburgh Triangles World Team Tennis.....Pittsburgh Spirit MISL games, concerts, circuses, ice shows.....sporting and outdoor shows....car and boat shows. Awesome college basketball too. Sold early edition newspapers there to make a buck as a kid, worked about 3 events on concession stand before I had enough of toothless unwashed wrestling spectators....LOL. Wouldn't trade a minute of it though, it was special. My dad's gone now about 15 years this May, and the Fleury jersey is more of a reminder of him being gone now rather than of spending time with him. Time to move on from that too. Hope it finds a great home. Let me know if interested. Thanks.
