I received an email through Ebay requesting that I accept a mailed form of payment from a Canadian bidder. I have no problem with this (I understand some people just don't prefer Paypal), but I'd prefer not to accept a personal check since it would take too long to clear. In the states, the best form of payment is a USPS money order since it can be cashed right at the post.

My question is what I should respond as to which form of payment to request. Is there a similar Canadian postal money order that clears quickly or is pretty much "tamper-proof" for lack of a better term? This member's feedback is over 1000+ with no negatives, so I am not really concerned that I am in the process of having a fast one pulled over on me...

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't paid that way in a long time but I used to pay by money order from a Canadian account drawn on a US bank (I believe CitiBank used to be the one) OR a Canada Post International Money Order.

The money orders that Americans have to send canadians are PINK international POSTAL Money orders. I assume its the same going the other way. I dont think the green ones can be cashed here.

Guys, I think he's asking about a payment from a CANADIAN buyer. If so, you just need to ask for a postal money order or any bank draft

Money order. A draft is usually for amounts over $2500. My bank has used them when they're short of MO forms.

Canadian bank money order drawn against a US bank - for example, CIBC pairs with Manhattan Chase for this purpose. Or Canadian Postal MO.

Thanks guys!! I will respond to him that I'll either accept a Canadian postal money order or a money order drawn against a US bank.

Make sure you request the US or International money order and not the Canadian one. As long as the purchase is under $999.99 he can get one at the post office.
