Help with Value for 1933/34 OPC Set?

A friend of mine has inherited a full ungraded set (72 cards plus the album that you mailed away for) of the 1933/34 OPC (Series A & B) - the first OPC set ever produced. I have inspected the cards and while I am no expert, most look like they are in reasonable shape (maybe PSA 5.5 - 6 avg). The bigger names - Morenz, Shore, Conacher are all in good shape. He framed the cards and album but left the cards in the 9 slot plastic sheets.

He is possibly looking to sell the set but has absolutely no idea what it is worth. I suggested that he could put it on Ebay with a high BIN and see what offers come in.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.




 
Not sure on a price for the whole set, but if the Morenz and Shore are really worthy of a 5.5 or 6, those two alone are worth a couple grand (combined) easily IMO. If they are all in the 5-6 grade range, it is one of very few sets with cards in that grade range. According to PSA, the amount of 33/34 OPC A/B singles sent in for grading is very low compared to other vintage sets. There's just not a lot of them sent in for grading for some reason, probably due to there being not a lot in mid-high grade condition left in the world. If they truly are mostly in the 5-6 range, I would try to snag that set in a heartbeat if the price is not through the roof. The main thing to watch out for though is trimmed cards which is common with these. I would measure them to make sure they have not been trimmed before buying the set.
