As some of you may know, I spent over a decade at In The Game and part of my (many, many) responsibilities was to acquire photography that was used on cards. One of my sources through the CHL was Aaron Bell, who would often be shooting the OHL along with the Top Prospects Game, Memorial Cup, and Canada-Russia Series.

Since we used to live in the same town, Aaron would sometimes drop off a disc of photos (before there were easier methods to transfer files) and we got to know each other over time and became friends. He has always been a fan of the hobby, and even worked at a card store back in the early 1990s before eventually working for the CHL in various capacities. In more recent years, he started shooting hockey documentaries (hockeydocs.com), including a series called The Collectors.

Over the weekend, Aaron suffered a major health episode. He had a heart attack, needed a triple bypass, and suffered a stroke which caused serious paralysis. With a long road ahead, a GoFundMe was set up to provide him and his family with the support they will need going forward as he has a long and tough road ahead. So far, the response has been amazing from the local community and the hockey world, but I wanted to share a link here in case anyone wants to help.

Again, if this violates the rules, I do offer my most sincere apologies, but I hope that you might consider making a donation to help someone that has had a hobby connection.

Thanks!
