These are 71/72 Prostar Promotion cards (team issue) in a glassed frame and the regular card on the bottom left is only there to show scale. They have factory autos on them, and most are in excellent condition. Sadly the Lafleur has roundish crease on it though. Other big names in there are Dryden (rc year), Mahovlich, Henri Richard, Lapointe, Savard, Cournoyer, Lemaire, etc. The Habs Patch at the top center is not game used, I found it at a flea market for cheap, but looks great.

I've been nudging the boss here at H.I. to let me run an auction based sale here for two reasons:
  1. All proceeds go to Hobby Insider maintenance
  2. The display must be picked up at the Toronto Expo (I can't ship this thing, the cost is very prohibitive)

As much as some may ohhhhh and ahhhhh over it (thanks if so) that's not the intention. Rather I am asking if you vintage folks think this would garner much interest toward HI's bank account?

Be frank, we are all big boys.

Thanks,
Glenn

Very cool. I have the Dryden that I got autographed at a St John's Maple Leafs game. I wouldn't know what to estimate as a value. Absolutely worthless in my house, we are a Leafs household:)

Thanks Scott. I appreciate your response but come on folks! 38 views and only one comment? There's more to life than just looking at pictures ;) I'd really like to get some opinions, but as I type this, maybe no comment is the opinion? :whatthehell:

Good morning Glenn. They look very nice in the frame. But if someone wants to buy these than most likely they would be looking for a complete set. With only being 12 cards than that is not quit half a set.And I am sure some would have concerns about how the cards are held in place. Are they gluded, taped or some other form of secure means.I would think that they may not fetch too much.I am also sure that some people may buy them just as a way to make a donation to HI.And that would be the real reason for wanting them and not because of the cards themselves. But that is just my opinion.
Good luck to you and hopefully an HI sale thread coming up.TTYL,Winston.

Thank you Winston, great points. I must remember to note both of those:

Not a complete set
Cards held in place with double-sided photo tape.

Now we're talking!

Nice display, that's for sure! Needless to say I'm not much on vintage or Habs, so I don't know what would be a reasonable estimate for you. I did want to make sure to comment so you don't think we're all ignoring your request for input.

Looks nice for a Habs fan, but don't know if it would bring in much dollar wise. If it had Leafs (Horton, Barilko, Broda, etc) in it, I'd considering picking it up for the basement, but wouldn't spend a whole lot on it. Hope this helps a bit. Any Habs fans out there able to comment?

hey Glenn, awesome gesture on your behalf.
it's a really nice looking peice that I'm sure many Hab's fans would enjoy.
as for how much it would get, hard to say.
if no one makes an offer here, maybe you can display it at a member's booth at the Expo?
good luck.

Danny

Thanks Danny and Ryan. I'm thinking it may be the best way. I let this run a little longer, then start appealling to the boss and/or any table owners that may display it.

Hey Glenn - no thanks to me for chipping in some comments for you? Just kidding! Anyways, I also meant to add that I thought this was a nice gesture on your end towards the site. I'm sure someone would be happy to give it a nice home.

LOL sorry Adrian, until I read your latest post I never saw it. Must be the meds

This site is a pretty amazing place to hang out, and I believe we should all do our bit to help with the expenses. This is kind of a win-win because the site will get money, and someone will get a neat Habs display.

Thanks for your multiple inputs Adrian!
