Hey kids

The final draft rankings are out and it looks like the top four are:

Bennett - Reinhart - Ekblad - Draisaitl

Lots of debate as to what order they should go in. I'm also big on Dal Colle who is ranked #5 and that's who I think my team (Flames) will wind up with. I think the team that drafts at 5 will be just as happy as the team that drafts #1, making this year's draft unique in that any of the top 5 picks will be highly coveted.

So here's what I want to do .... give us your team and player they will choose. Let's do top 10 and keep it somewhat simple.

Winner will be the person that gets the most team - player combinations, and will get a Nathan MacKinnon / Seth Jones Totally Certified Competitors dual jersey, to honor last year's draft class.

The one rule: posts cannot be edited and one entry per person. If they do they are not eligible for the prize. So get it right the first time! :)

Deadline is 1 week before the draft.

My picks will follow shortly ...

1 Buffalo Sabres - need more smarts and skill, Sam Reinhart
2 Florida Panthers - they guy they covet, Leon Draisaitl
3 Edmonton Oilers - need a d-man, lucky and ecstatic to get this guy at 3 - Aaron Ekblad
4 New York Islanders* (or Sabres) - Sam Bennett
5 Calgary Flames - the interim GM likes size - Michael Del Colle
6 Carolina Hurricanes - perfect fit, Kasperi Kapanen
7 Winnipeg Jets - William Nylander
8 Ottawa Senators** (property of Anaheim) - could be the sleeper of the draft - Jake Virtanen, same team that Getzlaf played for
9 Vancouver Canucks - coach gets fired, shift back to skill and these guys love their Swedes - Adrian Kempe
10 Nashville Predators - getting thin in net so they grab another monster goalie, Thatcher Demko

1 Buffalo Sabres
2 Edmonton Oilers
3 Florida Panthers
4 New York Islanders*
5 Calgary Flames

The top 5 are set! The only changes that can happen now are Edmonton/Florida swapping spots at 2/3 and Islanders/Flames swapping spots at 4/5.

Then the draft lottery has to happen, of course. But get your picks ready!

The 2014 NHL Draft Lottery will take place live on TSN on Tuesday, April 15. The 2014 NHL Draft will take place June 27-28 in Philadelphia.

1 Florida Panthers - AARON EKBLAD (think this will be Edmonton after a trade)
2 Buffalo Sabres - SAM REINHART
3 Edmonton Oilers - SAM BENNETT
4 Calgary Flames - LEON DRAISAITL
5 New York Islanders* - MICHAEL DAL COLLE
6 Vancouver Canucks - BRENDAN PERLINI
7 Carolina Hurricanes - WILLIE NYLANDER
8 Toronto Maple Leafs - JAKE VIRTANEN
9 Winnipeg Jets - NICK RITCHIE
10 Anaheim Ducks** - HAYDN FLEURY

Hope everyone pays attention as this is how it will be going down!

Hey, glad to see some entries! The draft is like a living, breathing thing and the predictions seem to change every day. I'm hearing the Oil want size so will take Draisaitl at 3 meaning Bennett might slip to #4 and get scooped up by the Flames. I'm also hear that Canucks would love to get Virtanen, a home-town boy. Lots of drama in the weeks to come. Get your picks in!

#1 - Florida: Aaron Ekblad
#2 - Buffalo: Sam Reinhart
#3 - Edmonton: Sam Bennett
#4 - Calgary: Leon Draisaitl

#6 - Vancouver: Nick Ritchie
#7 - Carolina: William Nylander
#8 - Toronto: Nikolaj Ehlers
#9 - Winnipeg: Jake Virtanen
#10 - Anaheim: Kasperi Kapanen
