Hobby Landscape has changed - Topps to get MLB exclusive

Thanks Wildfan, if only it were true.

In my opinion Upper Deck will not stop making baseball cards. They have not stopped making basketball cards as the 2009-10 Draft Pick product was for sale at the National, unlicensed.

Hockey means even more to Upper Deck now.

I thank you for your kind wishes but until the NHL and NHLPA start caring about the collector, getting our license back is a dream.

This is gonna get UGLY. UD has a MLBPA deal. Topps does not.... Topps had a MLB deal. UD does not.... Lots of drama. Hopefully both of these companIs actually try to compete by loading up products for 2010. That way the collectors win. Mike

Topps might have an ace in the hole as they still sign players to individual contracts IIRC - wonder if that can still be applied with their products

Topps has a current MLBPA deal in place. The only news is that the MLB chose to go with an exclusive licensee.

From the people I have spoken to, nothing has changed with Topps' MBLPA license, it has been in place for years.
