FRAUD CHARGE INVOLVED HOCKEY CARDS
By Jon Waldman
A former Canadian bureaucrat has been charged with fraud over the purchase sports memorabilia.
Polics say that Donald Billing, formerly the director of Measurements Canada, used government credit cards to buy approximately $185,000 (Cdn) worth of hockey cards and tried to pass the purchase off as office supplies.
³It's certainly different,² said Cpl. Howard Adams of the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police. ³I don't think there have been many cases where government employees
have been purchasing hockey cards.²
Billing is set to appear in court on Feb. 11.
