I don't mean to rub it in...hell ya, I do! I offered these two cards to another board member a few weeks ago at about 50% guide. He passed. Boy and I ever I'm glad he did!! :) :) :) :)

This $224.50 I expected based on a recent sale...

...but the $455 for this one blows my mind!

I don't want to name any names in case this person is embarassed or upset over the whole situation (coughDarrenBelfour4Vezinacough). Darren if/when I see ya' at the Expo I'll buy you a beer as a consolation! ;)

Don't really matter much tho', it's prolly all just gonna go at Expo anyways.

Ryan, no worries...who'd a thought some absolute idiot (if your a member here, oh well, my opinion still stands) would pay $400 usd plus for a Staal autograph insert and $200 for a non rookie card autograph at the height of his popularity?

Also Ryan, I am sure you are somewhat embarrassed for not seeing the potential of these cards, especially at what you offered them to me for! ;) Am I a bit bitter....well....wtf do you think! :)
 
That tmdfly buyer has to be VERY wealthy. Anyone that gets him bidding on his auctions is lucky.

I still claim foul over at Beckett (sorry Al or Clint, but you would lock the thread I said it over at Beckett). If a few certain high profile collectors don't name Staal as a target of their own, he will never get the "Hot List" attention he should get. Tell me that only one Staal rc is on the hotlist???? And Niitimaki has how many on the Hot List? Whatever! :rolleyes:

And since I'm ranting, isn't the Lecavalier SOTT an SSP or SSSP or something ridiculously low print run? If so, how can it be on the Hot List for Insert Singles? There aren't enough of them to be active :rolleyes:

Sorry to hijack the thread, but some Beckett stuff really burns me :( It looks like at least Canadian Collector recognizes his hobby love. Richard has asked me if he can feature my stuff in an upcoming article on the Staal family :boasting chest: LOLOL

Embarassed is pretty low on the list of possible emotions had you taken me up on the offer. ;)

Just goes to show ya' timing is everything. Even two weeks ago these auction totals would have been very different. Thank gawd he was named player of the week today.
 
Glenn - methinks you will see a VERY different story come next guide. If the hot list isn't dominated by Spezza, Staal, Crosby and UD Premier RCs then there is something wrong with Beckett....and that's about as far as I'm going to take this one today.

Glenn, do what I do, take what they say or don't say at Beckett with a grain of salt...overall it's the view of a few...and that's about it...
 
TMDFLY has about 15 Gretzky Staal's. Between him and Tuan, they've got the market cornered more or less on that one. I'm sure glad I've got one.

Geez - that's crazy. Whats a redeemed ITG Action rc going for these days? I didn't see any in the completed ebay auctions.

And Ryan, if you're bringing cards like that to Expo, you can pay for the whole booth, and I'll mooch a ride.
