Hi

This might make me looks like a sore loser but i just want to get it off my chest and ask you guys what you think .......

Of course this is regarding my cup tin .... Some of you might already seen it, but for those who didn't, here is the contents

Base: Lemieux, howard
Arp: Craig smith (barely 3 color)
Sig patch /35: Brett hull (1 color)
Plate 1/1: spgu Orlov
Base jersey/25: carter

I don't know .... But the more I think about this, something is not right

As other people who had a bigger hit, actually got more hits than I did

For example

Tekrun's tin
Base: fuhr
Arp: Dsp, John Moore
Arp gold: Denis Savard
Plate 1/1: holmstrom
Poe /10: fleury

Cfind's Tin
Wayne Gretzy Base /249
Mike Bossy Base /249
Trios Team Canada Jersey Keith/Pronger/Niedermayer 21/25
Joe Vitale Rookie Patch Auto /249
Lennart Petrell Rookie Patch Auto /249
Patrick Roy/Joe Sakic Dual Scripted Swatches Redemption /15

Blowout tins
Daniel Sedin Base 137/249
Ryan Miller Signature Patches 9/75
Joe Vitale RPA 3 color 10/249
Denis Savard Stanley Cup Signatures /50
Sean Couturier RPA 39/99

And there are many more, i dont know, something just isnt right about mine

So I set up a poll, feel free to vote

Plus, I know it is probablyjust luck, and I broke plenty of bad boxes, from UD and panini, and I never felt so disgusted than this before

Comments welcome
Tom

I can't believe you would even ask something like this. What would you expect UD to do for you? Sorry to be so blunt, but suck it up and move on.

The Orlov plate should do well, Craig Smith rookie is a keeper.

I dont think Hull signed much recently for UD, if the sig patch is from a Blues jersey it should do well.

I think if you and Trekrun listed everything up for auction your tins would probably bring in the same amount or relatively close.

If my terrible memory serves me correctly, didn't the tins from 10-11 that had the Jersey parallel wind up being weak tins as well? Perhaps something with how UD classifies that particular card.

As for whether to buy another tin, I would highly advise against it. To me this is a product to be bought at the case level, unless you're comfortable with a $500 scratch off ticket. At least with a case, you should have your case hit, it's just a matter of the size. With a tin, it's very well possible to swing and totally miss. I can remember a couple of tins I opened from my cases that were absolute duds as well. At the price point, buying single tins seems even more risky than buying single tins of high-end product normally is.

Hahaha, that's what you get when you buy The Cup goddamnit!

I broke a case once where I probably got back less than the cost of 2 tins. I don't touch it anymore.

In all honesty I have seen some nice breaks this year for sure, but if you're spending money on wax it better be disposable income because really that is what you are doing. Any "big hits" or "recoup" is just a bonus.

Also, UD has been brutal for me for the last year or two when busting, I have way better luck with Panini and ITG.

Actually it's probably not luck at all.

UD probably considered the short-printed Hull to be the hit of the pack, and honestly I think it is a very solid pull that may seem somewhat diminished by the one-color patch. The Hull cards have been doing well and as drkicker said its been quite a while since he has signed for UD. The rest of the tin is weak but that's the chance you take.

Don't see what you could call them about. Seen better and seen worse tins.

You got the stated number of cards and the average number of hits. Not sure what the problem is.

i would definitely call UD about that tin ... you didnt get a crosby/lemieux auto patch with 11 breaks ORRRR did you even get a gretzky patch auto /15!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A FARCE!!!!!!

give me a break

make a thread when you get to my level (and probably many others on this forum) where spending $20 on a card makes me lose sleep at night

Hey man,

No need to be mean.

He was just wondering if the consensus was that maybe a card was missing or something. I agree that it's just the luck of the draw but I've had times where I've busted product that was definitely missing something. I've called UD and they've replaced it.

And when it's the Cup, that missing card could be a 100+ value. Not saying that our OP is necessarily right in blaming UD but I can see where he's coming from.

Matt

thanks for all the comments so far

and you guys are right, there is nothing i can ask for UD to do because i did get 6 cards, with 2 auto patches

but what i am trying to get across, is the consistency

especially, on why on earth is this a 2 base cards pack ....... with only 2 autos .... while the dude get an ARP /99 gets 4 auto patches total,

I did 3 tins last year, and I actually had one tin similar to this, with a scrub arp, a common rc auto, a triple jersey, and a Skinner Honorable Numbers ..... I wasnt that upset because i did get one of the top rookies

I mean, if they replace the useless carter jersey, with another common arp or an other auto, I would be ok with it

I guess, UD thinks highly on these sp signature patches ....

Trust me, I crack enough boxes that I know whats involved ....... but something just doesnt seem right for me at that moment, thats all

hope you guys understand what i mean ..

Exactly! Granted, they weren't the best cards, but I have definitely seen far worse.

I can totally justify hitting up UD if you got sacked with a tin full of base and a lone jersey card. But that didn't happen here; so I can't see UD doing anything for you other than giving you an opportunity to vent.

As already mentioned, the Cup is better suited by the case versus by the tin if you're looking at some kind of notable ROI.

As a customer its your right to air any problems, so I voted to give it a try....whats the worst that can happen?

Squeaky wheel may get some oil :)

I can agree that getting 2 base cards in a set like this cant be fun but the sad thing is thats a normal rough break i doubt u will get much from it contacting them but u never know.

I will check completed auction from eBay and just list the best prices.

Lemieux base $12.49
Howard base $12.99
Smith ARP $32.00 (two/barely three colour)
Hull $89.99 (was a one colour Limited Logo but very similar card)
Carter jersey /25 $15

No Orlov's have sold but I would imagine that you could get $100 for it now.

Yes you had a bad tin but you could get $250 back from it.

You rolled the dice. You didn't make the point. House raked your cash. Asking them to comp your drinks is ridiculous.

BAHAHAHAH - I'm going to have to start doing this for all the dud wax boxes I open - 'hey UD, I only got a Jonathon Blum RC and I can see on the internets that someone got a Nuge...I think I should get a Nuge too...please make it better'

I understand what you are feeling but as others have said, you just have to move on. You took a shot and missed. Get the stuff listed ASAP so you can the max back out of it.
