Hossa to the Red Wings!!!

I knew when they stole Conklin for |$750k that they would make a run at Hossa.
Although Rolston made more sense from a total player standpoint - this is the firepower that makes for 4 pretty incredible lines.

Should be fun to watch the Wings on the PP next year|!!

The rich get richer. Ladies and gentlemen, your 08-09 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings...

so...who else has made trades ect that will bring them inline with the Wings??

after adding Hossa to an allready great team, is there anyone close to them??

So far this is the most surprising signing for me. I really expected Hossa to sign in Montreal or somewhere else certainly not in Detroit.

Ummmm....shall we rehash the debate from mid-season about who the #1 GM in the league is?

Not only does he have the most talented team and draft/develop the best players, but now Ken Holland has players willing to take less money to come play for his team as free agents.

Ryan,

Never have argues with this one.

Word is that Holland told Hossa point blank:
"No one make more than the Capitan of this team"
End of discussion. The next question for 60 minutes should be how comw Detroit has this much cap room???
Holland get the CAPOLOGIST award for the NHL.

uh no

What is happening!!!! Detroit are stacked and with Hossa.....that's crazy. With all that money being thrown around are we going to see the same trend that caused the work stopage not that long ago. Not just the Hossa deal but many average names, getting big money. Something's not right!!!

My thoughts exactly...With the line-up they already have I would figure they would have about 75.00 to offer Hossa, Not 7.4 million.

The cap went up by 6-ish million, Hasek's salary is off the books (among others) and their resignings have been reasonable (Lilja, Stuart, etc).

as Mr.Holland has done for a few years now...top line players will take lots less $$ to play for a winning franchise then 10 Mill to play for the Blues/Panthers/Ect
