How do you organize your binders?

Let's say you have a binder for your player collection and you've got 300 cards in it. How are they organized? By year? By the date you acquired them?

Let's say you organize by year. What happens if you acquire 50 new cards of that player from all different seasons? Do you take the time to pull your cards in and out of their pages to reorganize for the new additions?

I ask because I'm planning on starting a new player collection in a binder and I'm trying to think of ways to organize the pages with the goals of (a) being organized and (b) avoiding constantly reorganizing for new additions.

I used to player collect (Vincent Lecavalier) but I was a completionist (and was always around the 80%+ barrier) so I would just leave empty spaces for where cards I was missing should go.

Ex. If I was missing the parallel out of 10, but had all the others I would just leave that 1 space empty. It was arrange by year, product, etc.

Now? I would never be a completionist anymore for a whole number of reasons (cost, stress level, why buy something you think is ugly?, etc). so now I would just group em in years and just tack on new additions to the end. I would probably still leave some empty spaces for certain parallels I really want but for the most part, just have em group by year, manuifacturer (or alphabetically) and continously add on to the end.

Organized by year, alphabetically by set. As you would see them listed on a checklist. Start a new page at the beginning of each year.

Yes I do reorganize as new ones come in. It can be a little bit of a pain but really you only have to forward a few pages worth of singles at the most.

There is a sense of satisfaction placing a new card in amongst its brethren.

I could leave a blank space or spaces but you never know if they will ever be filled and involves a lot more pages with empty spots that I don't like

My Francis (1000) and Burke (almost 800) binders are busting at the seams as it is!

O'sullivan collection is organized by year and then by set but no order within the sets, just whatever fits the best to sow all the cards from each set without flipping pages. I have blanks for the ones I need, but its only 3 cards so not many holes haha. That's 1 fat binder then a second is my simmonds/kings/random pc and those are separated like that, but not anyfurther than that besides putting thick and patch cards together on the same pages to keep space. No holes in that one though so when needed I just move everything back a slot or page or whatnot

Edit:
Value means nothing to whether its headed to the display case or binder also. My favorite ones go in the case even if they have a much lower value than something in a binder

I've got mine in a binder sorted by my checklist. If I'm missing a card, then I put a blank slip of paper in there so I can see at a glance that I'm missing that one.

The only time this doesn't work is for the current year, or if you discover a card from years past that wasn't on your checklist originally. A bit of a pain to move things down, but it's the easiest way to organize?

Gelinas - 3 binders, all sorted by the card # on the back. Rookie to 97-98, 98-99 to Current and Pacific

Because I hoard, each card gets its own page and I attempt to get up to 9 copies (if not more, in time - copies 10+ go into a 5000 ct.

Linden/Burrows/McCarthy/etc -
By year, by set. I too start a new page at the beginning of each year BUT I do leave spaces for cards that I don't have. The new page lets me have an easier go at it when some thing wasn't checklisted right, and I have to move stuff around.

The current year gets put in haphazard until the end of the year. So my Burrows are sorted right now by release date to some extent and where things fit etc, until Cup/Dominion come out. 11-12 started with a new page for Victory with the first two cards spots used and what will be a space for the Victory Black.

For all players - I do NOT include spaces for large cards nor 1/1s. When I acquire such they go into different binders or boxes.

I just put little slips of paper in the empty spots that say what the card is until I get that card, for a few odd ones I may not recognize on a photobucket I have a printed image of the card to make it easier.
