I was wondering what you guys think about the job UD did in regards to the Fleer Brand name for their 2005-06 UD Hockey Products. I know there are only a couple of products (Ultra/Hot Prospects) to judge them by but I was curious. BTW, They plan to come out with several new Fleer/Flair Hockey products in 2006-07. I attached a poll and comments are welcomed. Mike

i gave it a "B" as well.i liked Ultra(i have a thing for full bleed cards!)and the Hot Prospects is nice as well.nice mid range products that you can afford to collect and possibly pull something nice for reasonable dollar amount.

I went C.

Nothing really impressed me and all the sticker autos, YUCK!

Maybe if they got some hard-signed goodies in and spiced up the designs a bit.......

Ultra was fun to break for the price.

Hot Prospects, well, there are rookies, but not really anything else.

By what I saw for 2007, Flair Showcase reminds me of Pacific, but at 3 times the price, while Ultra 2007 isn't a major design innovation...

I went D. If I was judging solely on their delivery of Ultra, I woulda given them a B or maybe even an A if I was feeling generous.

Having seen Hot Prospects, they're lucky they don't fail. Ugliest base card this year no contest. Majority of SP rookies are of poor quality with visible rollermarks. The bonus content is strictly average. Add to that a price point ABOVE UD1 or 2 - without the pedigree or quality - and this is one sorry sack of garbage.

I agree with Quincy - Hot prospects is one MAJOR DOG! The design is horrible, and the overall concept is weak. I guess some people are swayed by the number of decent patches, but overlook the fact that they are from photoshoot jerseies, and cost very little to produce. Th eprice point confuses me.

I haven't bought either Fleer release this year, nor will I. I didn't like what I saw from design, value and quality so I will give it a C. Chances are if I bought the products I would have given the Fleer brand a D, but a C is safe and keeps anyone from questioning my grade without buying any.

Two words ... en fuego ... seriously?

Ultra: High B, possibly a low A. Nice set, big rookie subset, SPs that aren't impossible, nor expensive to track down. Good looking design as well.

Hot Prospects: C, they are ugly as sin, and I hate the idea of having to chase 3 1/1s for my rookies, but I am forgiving to any set that gives me a few more cards to chase of my guys.

Thanks for all the replies and the participation in poll. Based on the results, I guess UD gets a C or C- for their use of the Fleer name in Hockey for 05-06. I personally gave them a B. I liked Ultra, a lot, and put together a set w/RC and a Gold Medallion w/RC's. The Gold Medallion set is pretty sweet and relatively affordable to put together unlike most of the other releases this year. I also thought that Hot Prospects was a pretty fun break. I may be a bit biased since I pulled 4 Auto/Patches in 6 boxes and a Mario #/10 parallel. Thanks again, Mike
